Commercial Description:
A trademark beer of the Santa Fe Brewing Company’s master brewer, Ty Levis, the State Pen Porter has every reason to be one of his favorites. It is flavorful, swimming with notes of nuts and chocolate; it is drinkable, so drinkable that it is almost as if pint after pint were drinking itself; and it packs a punch, so much so that its drinkability rapidly gives way to a euphoric intoxication that only a true Porter drinker can understand. Malts: 2-row pale, 30-37 l. Crystal, 70-80 l. Crystal, Chocolate Hops: Cluster, Cascade, Willamette

If you can drink this beer in prison, I’ll go rob a beer store right now, because this beer was great. Black body, tan head, a great porter.

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a red shine under a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, bread, roasted malt, and burnt sugar, leading to a dry bitter finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of FlacoAlto. Pours a warm dark brown with a reddish hue and a dense light brown head leaving laces. Vinous aroma, vanilla and sweet malts. Medium body with a very soft mouthfeel, roasted malt and vanilla accents. Almost no bitterness in the finish but quite some alcohol. 201008

Bottle. [Tasting @ Papsoe 20-10-2008] Average brown creamy head that mostly lasted. Fair display of lacework. Dark mahogany color. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt. Over the palate came sweet chocolate, mild roasted malt, hint of liquorish. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor with light counter bitterness. Nice sweet chocolate like malty finish.
