Pours a dark brown with thin tan head that quickly disappears. Notes of chocolate sweetness up front with a roasted malt finish.

12 fl oz / 355mL can into a Guinness glass. Served cold. Aroma: Pretty malty. Besides that, some chocolate. Appearance: Opaque cola color. Dark reddish brown. Tan head that fizzes away. Taste: Wow lots of milk chocolate! Just a hint of the roasty malts. This is a chocolate-y beer! Palate: Medium-full body. I don’t know if I’d describe it as creamy, but it’s definitely smooth. Overall: Wish SanTan brewed this stuff year round. It’s a great, great beer. Would definitely buy again and recommend.

12oz can thanks to mikedR. Pours a dark brown color with small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, and brown sugar. Taste follows the nose almost exactly. Lots of cocoa flavor, sweet, with some nuttiness.

Poured from can, reddish brown with light head, thin lacing. Nice aroma of cocoa and caramel malts. Taste of subtle chocolate and semisweet malt, mild hops. Mouthfeel is a little thin and finish does not linger. Hard to say "double chocolate" (or "porter"), maybe Dark Ale, but whatever you label it, it's a pretty decent brew. ---Rated whilst imbibing

Can pour from Jon. Cool name, beer not so cool. Pour is dark brown with an off white head. Fizzy, no real lacing. Aroma is light chocolate malts, yeasty, with an odd metallic tone as well. Flavor is roasted malt, yeast, lots of metal. Very one dimensional, and unfortunately, that dimension is metal. Finishes like sucking on a penny. Pass...

Dark pour, not too dark, white head. Tastes like sex panther. Roasted malt and some chocolate then kind of metallic finish.

I assume this is the correct beer, although the label says 6.9% (duh). Black, thin ring of foam. Smells like chocolate and coffee and some ashy notes. Taste is coffee and chocolate again, with some notes of grain and burnt toast. Dry, woody finish.

Trying to support local, but... just can’t get into this brew. I remember when I had this on draft a few years ago & it was a big, dangerous barleywine. This new, canned version is but a shadow of the former, unfortunately. Dark pour, minimal tan head. Aromas & flavors of some chocolate, slight roast, mild bitterness. Watery mouthfeel, even for almost 7%. Wish I could like this more, but I can’t.

Can; poured a very dark brown color with a khaki colored head. Aroma of bitter chocolate, chalk, toast, roasted malt, meat and caramel. Flavor had a mellow smooth element to it, but there was some nice complexity. More bitter than bittersweet; some molasses, caramel and earthiness. Something akin to flowers midway. A bit more sweetness in the finish. Loses a bit of luster with some time. Palate was just ok.
