COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
SanTan’s annual Winter Warmer ale is based on a traditional English Old Ale recipe and then spiced with 10 lbs of fresh ginger from our local market. Generous amounts of caramel and roasted malts are added to give Winter Warmer a deep ruby brown hue. The malt is backed by 10 gallons of Arizona orange blossom honey that lends a slightly sweet taste to the big malt flavor with a sting of ginger. Winter Warmer weighs in at 9% ABV and will keep Jack Frost from nipping at your nose! 20.5°

Interesting. Fairly sweet. Very very herbal, probably too much for my liking. Different, but fairly good.

Pours clear, dark brown. Small tan head, minimally lasting. Interesting. Fairly sweet. Very very herbal, probably too much for my liking. Ok.

Clear dark amber pour with small beige head. Aroma of ginger, malts caramel and spices. Taste of ginger, malts, cinnamon, nutmeg, faint hops and spices. Thin mouthfeel, medium carbonation, alcohol well hidden.

Draft sample. Nice winter warmer with spiciness and a good ginger bite. Good malt backbone it from being one dimensional. Well made.

On tap at the brewery. Ginger-heavy nose with some clove, cinnamon, and the faintest hint of tobacco. Pours über-dark brown with a big, foamy tan head and medium lacing. Spice-forward flavor of ginger and orange blossom with a tiny earthy hop bite and a moderate-to-heavy caramel malty sweetness to finish. One of SanTan’s better offerings.

Solid winter warmer. I would like to see a bit more depth of flavor though -- either more hops in a West Coast style or more malt for a more traditional warmer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From last winter. Served in a snifter with Ginger snaps. Brownish red pour with plenty of caramel malts and winter spices. Taste has a some nice spices and a little sweetness. My favorite SanTan brew by far.

Ginger ginger ginger! Wow. Good taste but glad I got this in a flight. Might be too much in full glass. Wow. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Growler pour courtesy of nbutler11 pouring up clear amber with tan head. The aroma is nice and estery with dates, prunes and red apples as well as some sweet malts and yeasty spiciness. The taste has a bit of malt astringency anchored between prune and honey covered apples notes. There is a modest mineral and earthiness going on in the background too. Decent enough.

(On draught at Santan). Pours a clear mahogany color with a off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts and plenty of spices (ginger?). Taste is sweet with some spice bite. Medium bodied and slick. Very easy going down. Pretty nice stuff.
