When an institution like Triple Rock Brewery in Berkeley asks you to collaborate, you don’t say no. We first brewed Cellarman at Triple Rock for SF Beer Week 2013 with the understanding that we’d make it again at SARA and age it in wine barrels. What you hold is this second version. Cellarman pays hommage to those often-overlooked supporting brewers without whom, nothing would get done. Bright, citrusy, and tart with a dry finish, this saison celebrates cooperation, friendship, and hard work. Sante!

Bottle shared by yourefragile. Thanks Michael. the beer appears orange / yellow with a thick, pure white head. Lasting retention with ample lacing. the nose brings brett, oranges, citrus, yeast. Oak and white wine in the flavor with a lemony tartness. Zesty with crisp carbonation. A very tasty beer indeed.

Sort of a berliner flavor profile of doughy yeast mixed with lemonade tartness. Certainly not terrible but I expect slightly more from SARA.

Bottle shared at Sour Sunday at Triple Rock. Pours clear gold with a white frothy head. Aroma has a sour fruit salad character to it, kind of limey with accents of apricot and crisp apple. Flavor continues the fruitiness, apricots coming more into focus, whils incorporating a marzipan malt note along with some great sharp Greek yogurt acidity. Perfect palate.

Tap at RateBeer Gallery III. Pours hazy gold with a large foamy white head. Aroma is sour - but sour what? Med minus body. Citric sour flavors. Reminds of Berliner Weiss. Light and tasty.

750ml Bottle – poured into a snifter glass. Aroma is light citrus rinds, moderate Belgian yeast character of spice and pepper as well as light barrel/white wine nuances. There is a very light funky note, but mostly the beer gives of a very traditional Saison aroma. The beer pours slightly cloudy golden color with minimal head and retention. Taste is up front citrus, distinct Saison yeast character of peppery spice, some dough, light floral quality, faint pear and white wine. Lots of oak on the palate as well. Body is on the lighter side with medium-high carbonation and dry finish. After taste is lightly tart with lemon and more yeasty spice. Overall this Saison seems a lot more traditional to me and not sour or crazy fruity as Bernice and Cask 200 tend to be. The yeast really shines and steers away from the funky offerings. The wine quality really adds nice depth to beer as it brings out more of the oak to compliment the pepper spice. Very easy to drink and extremely refreshing.

From bottle at the Brewery during Sour Sunday. (my first one from this brewery) Hazy yellow with a white head. Fairly light aroma of citrus, bread and hay. Similar taste, also with light spices and yeast. Soft and easy to drink. A descent one.
