COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
831 is a classic example of the modern American India Pale Ale. A simple malt bill provides a showcase for bold, citrus, dank hop flavors and enticing aromas. Each sip is clean and dry allowing for the pure expression of American grown hops including Magnum, Columbus, and Citra. Unabashedly aggressive and yet satisfying. 831 is our ode to the brash grace and herbal beauty of humulus lupulus.

A - pours light golden orange with a ring of big bubbles. S - this is a very musty earthy ipa. Dank wet hops, mouldering citrus peel and juice, pine resin and a nice malts character. M - medium body with a lightly slick feel to a dry end. A good Bitter hop centric ipa. T - Earthy dank hops lead the taste. Musty orange peel and tart juice, pine resin are capped by a nice malt backbone. O - bitter but quite drinkable. 3.8

Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and pine aroma. Pine and grapefruit flavor with light summer fruit. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Pine and grapefruit linger with light summer fruit.

Hazy golden color. Musky hop aroma and grain malt. Bitter flavor, some of that muskiness present plus citrus hops. Dry, leaves a mineral aftertaste.

(Growler) Pours a clear yellow body with a moderate white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pineapple, weed, grass, and herbs. Flavor of caramel, grain, grass, grapefruit, and pine with a dry, bitter finish.

Growler, courtesy of joet. Thanks, Joe! Man, this was nice. Pours a bright, lightly hazy golden-orange color; web-like white head with foamy lacing. Citrusy pith and floral notes in the aroma, along with a bit of peach/apricot and warming alcohol; lean, orange-inclined, and reminiscent of things like scaled-down (forgive me, but every one at the table agreed once I put it out there) Pliny the Younger (when itís at its leanest and more orange-forward); Sculpin would be another comparison and offers a similar profile, to me. Great stuff, is what Iím getting at. Firm citrus and orange bitterness from the get go, medium to medium-high body, medium fine-bubbled CO2; man, after one acclimatizes to the bitterness, this is especially lovely: orange, peach, grapefruit pith; just a delicious, layered, lean bitterness with ripe stone fruit and lively CO2. Lasting citrus bitterness in the finish.

On draught at the brewery. Earth, forest floor and fruit marry well on the aroma. Pours a hazy orange wih white head of large bubbles leaving a dusting across the top. Puckering citrus blends with solid malt backbone for an easy drinking IPA. Moderate bitterness and semi-dry finish. Slightly thin mouthfeel overall.

On draft at the brewery and then some from a growler later. It pours a golden orange color with a white head. The aroma has some tropical fruit and grassy notes with hints of honey and toffee, but not sweet. The flavor is dry and grassy with some bitter citrus rind. Light bodied with lower carbonation on the draft sample I had. The growler was more fully carbed for some odd reason. I actually liked it better from the growler. Nice light, dry hoppy beer with big flavor.

By growler from Mario. Medium full aroma, herbaceous, cocoas, mint, citrus. What a combination - this is creative, new and good. Perfect dry to slightly off dry. Sharp in feel with a touch of astringency. Medium low effervescence. More carbonation may have turned this into a more aromatic superstar? I donít know. A very nice show and interesting aesthetic.

Tap. Pours hazy golden amber with a small white head, bubbly. Dissipated quickly with some lacing. Very nice aroma, grapefruit, tropical fruit, pine, touchof cat piss. Flavor is about the same, light sweet and medium bitter. Medium body, oily tongue coating mouthfeel. Very nice.

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2013 Rerate: Had this beer a few more times over the months. Each time I pick up less and less of the grassy flavors that turned me off before. There is definitely a huge bitter punch of the mouth that was more muted before. Aroma incredibly dank with lots of pine, flowers and weed smell. Love it. Pours an unfiltered hazy golden color with soapy white head that dissipates slowly. Nice lacing, small legs. Taste is piny, earthy, light crackery, dank dank dank finish. Finish is bitter, light astringency, but balanced by the body.
