On tap at The Rare Barrel in Berkeley. Pours a bright red and had a fruity smell. Blackberry flavor. Nice brew, just wish it had a little more body to it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Thanks, Erik. Hazy, plum-red color, mostly opaque & topped with a pink, slightly gray-tinted layer of fuzz. Aroma has lots of sharp cherry & raspberry... I guess those are boysenberries? Very nice & "berry-ish" with mild lacto, yogurt sourness apparent. Good bit of funk, mid to back-end; some sweaty & horsey hay notes. Again, lots of berry in the flavor. Mostly raspberry-like, but I’m not too familiar with how a boysenberry tastes. Only in syrup form. Nicely puckering & sour with a bigger inclusion of sweaty funk, spicy wood, dry barrel notes. Finishing lemon, barnyard Brett funk, & mild lactic acid. A little yogurt, too, with resounding tart & dry notes that linger. Yet another very good ale from SARA. These guys are doing great things.

Hazy red color, light foam. Fruity, funky aroma. Tart flavor, fruity, kind of sweet tomato strangely, bit of minerality. Interesting beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at one of the SF beer week events. Aroma and flavor of berry-infused saison. There was a hint of cleaning solution in the nose, but overall this one is very clean and clear blackberry. I had a couple glasses. Not too funky for a saison, but an excellent beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour is bright ruby with a mostly white head. Nose has a ton of raspberry with a subtle balance of sourness and brett presence. Taste is similar but not super bright. Lots of raspberry, fair bit of brett and notes of vanilla. Short finish, hints of bitterness, nice carb and light body.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Released May 2013. Hazy, dull strawberry/guava juice color. Smells sour for sure.. Aromas of delicate tart, dusty strawberries and raspberries, intermingled with hints of spicy, damp red wine barrel, lacto, citrus and fair amount of funk. TART, DRY and mouthwatering on the palate. Fine, creamy, medium carbonation that lasts throughout bottle. Flavors of TART red fruits, citrus, lacto and funky yeast. Overall a simple, yet complex sour beer, that is refreshing, tart and enjoyable. Glad I got to try this for sure!

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
In short: A funky-lactic and tart ale with lots of sweet red fruits. Very good.
How: From a bottle at Hill Farmstead FoFA 2013.
The look: Cloudy bright red body topped by a small white head.
In long: The powerful nose has plenty of berries along with a strong farmhouse character. Inviting aroma. In mouth the beer has a soft medium body, a juicy texture, a relaxed carbonation, an adequate mouthfeel for the style. Taste blends farmhouse character, lactic funk (borderline yogurt), fruity raspberry-like tartness, acidity and lots of sweet berries. The overall sweetness sesnsation was similar to maraschino cherries. A very good beer that could have been excellent with more attenuation, a personal preference here. A good beer but it doesn’t explain why my wife is so obsessed with it, I need to get her some bottles because every day she reminds me I need to show her some Appreciation, it’s been a whale for her years before the beer was even released.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle shared by Alan on Christmas. Pours hazy cranberry red with small head and random lacing. Notes are tart raspberry, barn, acidic funk, strawberry seeds cherries, oak, and lemon skin. The pucker creeps on you, candy funk yo. Thit, a little thin but no worries, smell and taste is that sour candy straw goodness.
