On tap at the brewery. Brown color with tan ring. Roasted malts, milk chocolate, coffee. Taste is sorta sweet, but dry bitter chocolate as well, but milk chocolate in there as well. A very nice Porter!

Shared growler. Thanks Josh! Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and a hint of vanilla. Very nice.

Growler - Dark roasty notes. Deep maroon with a beige head. Lots of toasted malts and some cocoa. Decent.

[2/13/15] Draught at Sante Adairius Rustic Ales in Capitola. Dark brown to black with a beige head. Aroma of roast, some coffee and a bit of licorice. Flavor is quite bitter and roasty with coffee, a bit of cocoa, and a more bitter finish. Medium-bodied.

Draft at SARA with Linh. Pours a deep brownish black body with thin brown lacing. Aroma is earthy roast and a touch of ash. Mouthfeel is medium to medium plus with notes of rich, earthy roast, smooth malt, light wood, and bitter chocolate. No wonder Vanilla Joe kills it, assuming this is the base beer recipe.

Brown pour with a slight tan head. Slight roasted malted nose. Light clean roasted malt with just a bit of bitter chocolate. Nice.

On draft at Sante Adairius. Dark brown, cream head recedes to ring and patches. Nose of savoury roasty coffee notes, tastes moderate sweet burnt sugar and more coffee, roast malt, touch of cocoa and vanilla. Then some hop bitterness. Shortish finish, medium body, thinnish.

Very dark beer with no lasting head. Looks almost like a glass of coke. Slight fizz and mild treacly/malty taste. Nicely drinkable even though I don’t usually drink dark beers. (K)
