On tap at the brewery. Donna’s is one of my favorites. Nose is coffee with a touch of sweetness. Very slight chili aroma, smooth taste, sweet finish.

Tap. Pours dark black, small tan head, nice lacing. Very coffee forward aroma, roasty and fresh, some cocoa, no real hint of peppers. Flavor ful beer, coffee forward, roasty malts, dark chocolate, very light hint of peppers, more of a tickle. Light sweet and very light bitter. Medium body, smooth silky mouthfeel. Tiny amount of heat from peppers on far finish. Very clean.

Pitch black. Slight legs of lacing. Nose is the most fresh coffee I’ve ever had. Wow. It smells like freaking cold brewed coffee with walnuts and cocoa. Amazing. Oh yes. The taste is incredible. Acidic bright punch of coffee with delicious sweetness of cream and sugar. Raw chocolate and a slight smokiness. So much flavor for a 6% stout.

On tap at the brewery. Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is like a nice rich cappuccino, fresh roasted coffee beans with a bit of milky smoothness. The vanilla bean erupts in the flavor, leaving the coffee in its dust. Silky and sweet up front and morphing back into the base beer’s roasted bitterness in the finish. I didn’t get much in the way of chilis. Regardless, this tasted really good.

Half pour at the brewery this weekend. Branding Problem with all the extra stuff. Aroma is pretty similar to Vanilla Joe with mocha, vanilla, chocolate covered coffee beans, espresso. The Serrano is hard to pick on, even when warm. Pour is nearly black with very small layer of tan bubbles that hug the sides of the glass. Taste is creamy mocha, coffee beans, milk chocolate, some vanilla sweetness, but not as in your face as Vanilla Joe. Still hard to pick up the Serrano right away. Once the beer warmed up the chile skin flavor was more evident, but still subtle as it didn’t make the beer spicy. Body is creamy, silky with soft carbonation. After taste is mostly coffee and chocolate. Overall a pretty delicious coffee stout with good vanilla sweetness. Definitely would be awesome if the chile would snap at you, but in no way am I complaining about the quality and flavor. Great beer, but just a notch under Vanilla Joe.
