Blurring the line between beer and wine, this barrel-aged blend clocks in at 8.1% abv and is full of roasty, tart, tobacco, and leather notes, tempered by a solid malt backbone which provides for a wonderfully silky mouth-feel.

Shared by Kermis. Poured a medium brown with a frothy head. Aroma of zesty berry fruit, very Flemish in style. Medium body, flavour is bitter sweet and very fruity. Not my choice of beer, but good at the style.

JBPortland (1374) - Portland, Maine, USA - JAN 6, 2016
750ml bottle pours dark brown black with medium head. Nose is dusty tart cherry cocoa, dark fruit, bitter chocolate, funky ash. Taste is medium-high acidity, balance of roast ashy chocolate, funky dark berry, cherry, dark fruits, toast oak spice and dark grain. Finishes with a touch of sweetness, dark cherry chocolate funk, roast, leather, dark grain. Complex and tasty.

Bottle shared thanks to JBPortland ! Pours a burnt umber with a hint of sienna on the edges with two fingers of thick khaki foam. Nose is a mix of dark fruit, roasted grain and cocoa dust, earthy musty basement and a touch of balsamic. Palate follows with some dark earthy funk rounding the beer out nicely and some focused dark tangy fruit to add a counterpoint to the roasted malt undertones. Leather, cherry, moss, bark mulch, cranberry and a touch of beef jerky.

Usually these awkward blend type beers dont work but in this case the final product trumps the parts that went into it. Dark near black color with light off white head. Aroma is tobacco, cherry, cocoa, light balsamic, and earthy. Taste is perfectly tart with light sweetness for balance. Mouthfeel is soft and nice. Overall just a great unique beer.

December 29, 2015. Bottle, shared by André, thanks!
Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is sour berries, tobacco, some leather and licorice notes and very light roasted notes. Taste is sour, fruity and a touch of roasted bitterness. Finish is sour berries, very light roasted character, tobacco, leather, some toffee notes, light licorice. Medium bodied, dry, average small bubble carbonation.
Quite good for a dark sour with roasted notes, not too much bitter roastiness.

_angst_ (4137) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - DEC 29, 2015
Bottle courtesy of André. Pours hazy reddish black with a frothy mocha head that leaves some sparse trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty, tiny fruity and tiny funky with roasted malts, toasted cereal, dark bread, lemon juice, moist soil, tobacco, liquorice, barnyard and lemon zest. Taste is sour, malty, tiny fruity and slightly funky. Mouthfeel is soft, dry, tart and medium bodied. Finish is sour with roasted malts, toasted cereal, lemon juice, moist soil, damp hay, liquorice, burnt wood, barnyard, lemon zest and hints of alcohol. Solid sour stout. Pity sour stout still is pretty much impossible to pull off.
