A few full pours at the brewery – reviewed from notes (March, April, May 2014). Aroma is mostly piney and floral/grassy, some orange. Grainy malt, yeast and pepper notes as well. The pine is kind of a throw-off for a saison, but it has the rustic kind of quality I’d expect from Sante. The beer pours cloudy burnt orange with airy carbonation, spotty lacing. Flavor is herbal, pine, pepper, light fruit rind, citrus, orange, straw, wheat. Body is medium with medium carbonation and light earthy bitterness on the finish. Overall it’s a pretty hoppy saison with very light fruit aspect and for sure the rustic grain. Gun’s out homies.

On tap at SARA. It pours a cloudy orange color with a dense white head. The aroma is rustic, grainy malt with a nice light peppery, spiced dried fruit yeast character. The flavor is citric with mild spicy dank and floral notes, but mostly citrusy hops. There’s some fruit and a soft oaty mouthfeel to go along with a light, yet complex grainy malt profile. A great American style Saison.

Draft. Pours brighter orange. Small head and lace. Aromas are awesome with a bunch of simcoe, taste is nice and dry with some lemongrass, herbs, light spearmint, yeast, and some pretty complex notes. I like this one.

Cloudy straw yellow color with no head. Hay and lemon aroma. Kinda funky. Bitter / sour flavor. Well balanced overall.

UPDATED: APR 20, 2014 On tap at the brewery. Pours a lightly hazy pumpkin color with a white suds. Huge cantaloupe in the aroma, honeydew as well. Flavor is strong on honeydew and peach syrup. Light herbal finish, leaving pleasant hop bitterness behind.

Tap. Pours hazy golden orange, small white head, good lacing. Aroma is grassy, pepper, light citrus. Light sweet, herbal, peppery, almost a bit of mint, light lemon, perhaps clove. Reminds me of black jack gum. Medium body. Interesting.

Slight haze 1 finger head. Nose is like super oatmeal and cream of wheat. Only a minor hoppy nose with the expected fruity pine of simcoe. It’s a hearty nose. Saison flaked wheat, lovely wheat really hearty and substantial. Lemon grass and hay with a nice pine cone bitterness that is very sticky and hangs out long after you sip. The only other aspect I get is bananas but not overwhelming

A- pours a hazy golden straw with a light suds-ie what head that dissipates quickly. Minor lacing. S- passion fruit, orange, cloves, farmhouse, butter, musty cheese, daffodils, faintly floral with a slightly catty with Pendleton blanket. M- light slippery body with a medium palate. Decent carbonation. T- taste is clean and sincere. Grapefruit, soap, orange pith and lemon zest up front. Middle is zinc and butter with some musty farmhouse and straw. Ending is a continuation of straw and zinc with some sharper grapefruit. Sourdough lingers on the end.
