Can (sample from local rep). This is not retired -- or if it is, itís coming back as a zombie to eat your beer brains. Pours a medium brown-black with a shallow, fine-grained, light brown head. Nose is light coffee, chocolate, smoke, molasses, and rye bread. On the tongue, itís smoked chocolate and rye bread, with a little coffee bitterness; itís a very well-behaved and demure schwarzbier, with nothing to offend anyone. Finish is clean. Itís not a standout, but itís also not bad at all. With Kuronama Dark going away, we have to take what we can get.

Bottle of 33cl, in a Lager glass; from the fridge. Hum... nor good nor bad. But still a pils, still light, still no taste. One day Japan, you will learn how to brew great beers.

"like a slightly sweeter, thinner porter. overall it was neat to try, but not something iíll go back for. not a ton of hops, or body, but whatís there is good enough.

Sampled in the big metal can. Pours nice and dark black. Calls itself a stout but agree on the schwarzbier status. It drinks pretty nice. The malts leave a bit to desire but its alight.

Canette de 500ml. BiŤre noire avec une belle mousse ťpaisse, nez frais, bouche tout en douceur, trŤs bonne lager noire. (bu il y a 2 ans) 6/10

12 oz bottle, pour dark red/brown forming a beige in color foamy head. Aroma of hops, malts and coffee. Flavour was fairly balance, a little more carbonated than I was expecting. Easy drinking with a somewhat bitter ending. Not bad, but not exactly exciting either.

22 oz can; dark color with a full-bodied flavor. Yet, it goes down light like a Pilsner. Impossible to find; Iíve heard stories that the brewery has it. Alas, it is almost worth teh cost of the flight to Japan.

dark clear ruby red, rich malt and floral hop aroma, rich malt flavor with a bitter finish, much more a bock than a stout
