4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 AKThunder (153) - New York, USA - AUG 26, 2012Sapporo was a pleasant surprise to not only my tongue but also my wallet. An affordable import, this has a nice aroma with floral hops and some slight corn flavoring, while the mild appearance makes it look even more appealing, the taste was medium bitter, while the palate was of a full body.

Orangeish yellow and clear with a small head. Aroma is honey on toast with a side of sweaty taint. Flavor is bland and a tad sweet. I’d say this is better than most pale lagers, which isn’t saying much.

Grainy malts with some adjunct, not much hops, overly carbonated. It went down OK, but this isn’t something I’d really ever seek out again.

Draft from Hanaoka Sushi: Poured a clear light gold color liquid with a fat cap of foam head which sticks around longer than most any other malt liquor. Aroma is of the typical adjuncts but something about Japanese beers smell much better than other lagers or malt liquors. The flavor is mild with only a minor notice of the adjuncts such as rice used but this is a crisp clean beer that is easily quaffable when extra cold or eating with sushi –yummy.

Come on guys! Why the low scores? If you’ve ever been to Japan, then you know that there is nothing better than an ice cold Sapporo while eating sushi. There is a time and place for every (well not every) beer, and Sapporo and sushi is one of those.

Tall can pour at sushi bar is bright yellow with thin white soda head. Not much happening here: taste is sugary cornflakes drowned in old water in a tin can. Would make a nice breakfast treat on a Monday.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 spittle8 (54) - - JUN 3, 2013
Poured from a bottle, Japan. This is a northern Japanese beer, but like most popular beers in Japan, it is fizzy, has a sharp carbonation bite, and is light and lacking in character. You will find the usual corn/rice and metallic flavors in this proletariat beer, and you definitely want to drink it while it’s very cold. It’s not a very good beer by any means, but it can be quite refreshing while cold, and it has less offensive flavors than American analogues such as Budweiser or Miller. Overall, a mediocre beer that is still beer and thus desirable, and much less offensive than a Budweiser/et cetera. If you can’t enjoy this beer with your katsu or yakisoba, you’re probably a real cynical loser anyways, so who cares?

I guess it doesn’t matter where they make this beer in the world, it pretty much tastes the same.

This is my favorite of the mass produced Japanese beers. Slightly malty with a bitter finish
