Low in calories, low in carbohydrates, gentle, smooth, and elegant in flavor, Sapporo Light represents the most advanced evolution of light beer.

A: The beer pours a clear, pale straw color with a finger of white head. S: Definitely heavy on the rice. Very light nose with a strong adjunct aroma and very little malt to it. Not much hops to it, perhaps a little bit of grass and some light skunk. Almost all rice. T: Slightly tangy, strangely. Lots of rice, in fact, thatís pretty much what it tastes like. A hint of white grape, grass, and a light vegetal character. Not terribly good (shockingly). M: Very light in body with a medium level of carbonation. O: Regular Sapporo is definitely preferable to this. But, it does itís job as a light lager.

If it looks like urine, tastes like urine, and smells like grass, well its probably urine after having eaten asparagus. Not my favorite.

[Bottle] Pours a clear, light yellow color with a decent head. Mild aroma and taste of sweet grains, rice and corn flakes. Faint grassy notes in the finish. Disappointing body and fizzy carbonation. Not much happening here.

Sampled at Toronto beer festival. I can say that this surprisingly was the first time I didnít mind a light beer (I still donít see the point though). I do not remember the smell. It tasted rather grassy and dare I say corn? Not bad.

Despite being in a brown bottle, this has a surprisingly strong skunk smell out of the bottle. It really fills the surrounding area w/ ripe, delicious skunk aroma. Itís a yellow beer w/ nearly no head. The aroma is skunk and and a sweetness that implies heavy use of adjunct grains--not that thereís anything wrong w/ that. There is also a light tartness that perks the nose in a bit of an unpleasant way. Thereís really no suprises hidden in the flavor after smelling this. Itís a rather thin beer which comes off as sweet not because of maltiness but lack of hops. Itís Somewhat flat but what carbonation there is is fine and fizzy. Really, there is just not much here to like and quite a few things to dislike. This is not Japanís finest effort.
