COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

With our determination to create our own brewing ingredients, which are grown and nutured entirely by our employees, we have developed our own species of barley and hops. Marugoto Kokusan (meaning "wholly domestic") is our attempt in creating a beer with 100% domestic ingredients for beer lovers.

Ingredients: water, barley malt (from Saitama-grown "Aya No Hoshi" barley), hops ("Little Star" from Furano).

350 ml can. Pours clear golden with lively carbonation. White bubbly head stays for a while before reducing into flat and not so interesting surface. Aroma is quite subdued, a bit of malt character and maybe some slight hops also. Sweet wet cardboard? Taste is OK, has some carbonation determining the main tone for the first sip, then some sweet malt bread character and quite short, very faintly bitter finish. There is almost no aftertaste and the finish is very quick - although some carbonated bread lingers on the tongue if you try hard to notice it. Despite of the heavy use of local Japanese ingredients this beer is not special in any way, your usual macro lager.

Soapy sweet malt aroma, herbs. Sweet malt flavor, lollipop, floral hops, mint, dirty sweet finish. Not awful for a sweet lager but not a great balance either.
