I thought to myself as I decided to live dangerously....maybe these guys have actually made a beer that is passable. This is proof that just hoping for a tradition to change just aint enough. whoopee its an all malt no rice beer... It still sucks. Nose is of aseptic thin thin malt. Body is shamefully weak. No hops. Finish is sweet but still on its knees. What was I doing? ROGUE (653), Newark, Delaware, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Oct 26, 2009 22oz super strong can. Pours a deep gold with a nice fluffy white head. Aroma is metallic with light malt and slightly grassy hops. Taste is malty with a slight hoppiness present and a little on the sweet side. Slightly better than Sapporo Premium. shp555 (1681), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 7, 2009 Pours a golden yellow color with a white head. Aroma is lemony, floral, honey, and some vanilla. Flavor is malty, floral, lemon, and a bitter lemony finish. CUJO (346), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 21, 2009 16oz: drinking glass: fairly decent brew... had this immediately after the original. Although the body is still very thin, there is more hops and grains... still medium to high carbonation that washes the palate clean. Easily drinkable with sushi. jbye4334 (658), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 28, 2009 (bottle). Clear gold color. Medium white head. Light grainy aroma and flavor. Short duration. Smooth finish. Thin texture. Moderate carbonation. Spare lacing. craftycarl21 (543), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Aug 24, 2009 Yellow pour with a big frothy head. Aroma of grain, basic malt, very light and unimpressive. Flavor is unimpressive, just like most lagers, with maybe a bit more flavor. Decidedly mediocre. drowland (1391), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 21, 2009 Drank straight from the big can while visiting Hawaii... maybe poured it into a hotel glass. Typical lager and nothing special about it. yemenmocha (354), Glendale, Arizona, USA
| 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/20 | Aug 19, 2009 Slightly hazy golden color. Looked better in the can, which is quite an attractive aluminum can, so I poured it back into the can (after you read the rest of the review you’ll see why).
Smell is very grain-alcohol-y, chemical, and fairly tame. Very similar to most domestic macros.
Taste is very light in all aspects, again with a macro character on the whole, and that annoying chemical taste. What is that taste? I can’t find the right word.
Finish is short and dry.
The nice thing about this beer is the fancy can. Unlike regular Sapporo this can has nice barley designs on both sides of the can. very attractive. This beer is far more enjoyable straight from the can - if you must drink one at all.
