Lata from Mr. Max in Yanai-shi, Yamaguchi. Clear nice golden colour, medium white head. Pleasant aroma of hops (fruity) with a good maltiness, sweet like, pleasant. Good mouthfeel. Flavour is pleasant with fruitish hops and citrus with a nice maltiness, soem caramel, pleasant soft sweetness, good medium bitterness. Nice really.

Can at Shinjuku Prince Hotel, after 1 RBJG2013 night. Clear golden - white head. Amber mats, light vegetables, light floral notes, ok fresh, light hoppy, light oiley notes (Nelson ???) goat sweat (Nelson ????).

maekchu (1086) - Hirakata, JAPAN - MAR 19, 2013
Can from 7-11. Slightly stinky hop aroma (Nelson Sauvin), a definite train station toilet note. Very bright clear yellow, with a really fluffy, strangely shiny white head (like a slick baked meringue). Mild grassy initial flavor, with some punch / hops emerge nicely, for just a moment / flavor goes flat in final, with some prickly hop nips in aftertaste. Thin body. Pretty good. Aroma is very good for a lager like this, but flavor does not impress so much.

Can from Family Mart. Poured off-gold, creamy white head. Great aromas of fruit, subtle hops and some sweet candy. Liked the slight complexity not usually in a macro lager. Bit of zing and bubble in the mouthfeel, but overall a pretty good balance. Would probably drink again just for something different.

Can from 7-11. Very clear pale blond colour with white bubbly head. Aroma is fruity, bit tropical, definitely more interesting than the usual macro lagers. Bit citrus too, touch of graininess and bit of cream. Taste is nice, fruity again, although the usual lager taste is at the front and the fruitiness is hidden a bit. Slight skunkiness there, but quite nice still. Finish is dry and crisp with a touch of bitterness. Hope they make this all year round and offer it in some bars and restaurants as this is pretty good for a mainstream beer.

Light aroma with fruit (orange?), grass, and hops. Light orange colour, thin white. Very lively. Taste is mostly bitter although very lightly so with some sweetness. Light on the palate, soft with some tingliness. It’s pretty good for a light beer like this. I like how the taste reminds me of forest.

Aroma: earthy, floral, roasted grain, mango, orange/citrus peel. Palate: a bit thin. Flavor: earthy hop and malt, dilute orange note and medium hop bitterness. Comment: flavor and palate not up to the aroma which is quite good.

The court jester is in. Fair whiff on first nosing but retreats to safe lager territory pretty quickly. Yebisu beers generally look the biz. Fairly full bodied, industro malt with cat piss at the end. NSauvin only works for me in copious amounts, this is little more than a tease. Solid beer, but has yebisu all over it.
