Mostly just not very interesting. Darker and maltier than many Asian beers, which often have a heavy rice component. This was sweet in the nose and the mouth, with a malty first impression. Almost no hoppy bitterness. OK appearance, golden with a small white head. But just not very interesting, except as an example of a well made industrial lager.

A decent lager. A little more depth and bitterness than most European offerings. Not bad.

This is an actual beer, this first I’ve had after around 7 tinnies in Japan. You can tell too, although that doesn’t necessarily make it any better than a happosei. Nothing much to note about the flavour, it’s a bit malty, bit grainy, but a tad metallic.

BB 03/2015. Poured a crystal clear pale amber colour with a one- to two-finger white foamy head that diminished quickly to a collar and laced poorly. Carbonation low and coarse. Aroma strongly malt, slightly sweet, slightly grainy, minor hops. Taste slight sweetness with a slight bitterness; becomes more malty as warms. Quite a light body but the mouthfeel doesn’t feel watery. Smooth, crisp, light with a tart bitterness on the finish. One to drink cold and fast before it warms. Brought back from Japan by daughter Chrissie.

350 ml can bought at YATA in Grand Century Place, Mong Kok.

Clear golden honey colour; Three-quarter finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 1 minute; Moderate sticky lacing with notable slight carbonation; Fragrant aroma of full malt, with very light floral, thick bread, yeast, light lemon, and very light grassy hops; Close to light sweet taste of malt, with molasses, light sugar, light bread, light yeast, light lemon, light bitter hops and sharp grass; Close to light body. Thin and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is full malt in light body, definitely Premium level. Quite sweet, mostly molasses with some sugary edge. Breadyness is not as strong as the aroma. No foul taste, pretty good… Hoppiness is very light floral, light lemon and thin grassy nose. Light lemon and strong grass in taste. Bitterness is light but notably astringent for an abrupt, light bitter sweet finish; Fairly dry after taste. Quite easy and hoppy to mouth.

Comments: This one is teasingly good. It may not be as rich and fulfilling as Suntory Premium Malt, but it’s just malty enough plus quite delightful bitter hops to dance around your taste buds. A very solid go-to lager which finally hits this city and I have more choices to put my feet up besides the reliable Carlsberg. Yes! : )

Can. Thanks mom! Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of hay, grains and some grass. Flavor has some grainy malt with light sweetness, and a rather crisp bitterish finish. Rather light-bodied. Pretty easy-drinking when served cold.

On tap at the Haneda airport, last beer I had while in Japan. The best prices I’ve seen all week

Nice, one of the better lagers I’ve had here.

Poured from a can in Narita, Chiba, Japan. Color is golden yellow with just a hint of orange. Thin white head with little lacing. Aroma is sweet, light grains. Taste is sweet, grainy, lightly hopped. Thin mouthfeel. Nicely carbonated. A small step above the other Japanese macros.

Bue en bouteille de 75Cl au Japon. Malts et sucres en font une bière très agréable, ronde et assez corpulente en bouche compte tenu de son degré d’alcool.
