3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Roasted coffee and fudge aroma. Brown to nearly black in color. Black coffee bitterness, looks like they came up short with the sweetness here, as the malt is strictly burnt. The usual Achilles’ heel for Saranac is in the body, and this one is no exception as it is to thin. Otherwise a solid offering.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
12 oz bottle from the holiday sampler case. Pours with a medium head and a nice dark malty color. Medium to medium heavy with a nice finish. For the relative cost of the case, this is well worth the investment. One of Saranac’s better brews.

Bottle. Poured dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium dark sweet flavor with medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours brown to dark brown with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark chocolate, earth, so me ash. Body is a bit thin, otherwise not bad.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: dark chocolate brown with a tan head. Aroma is sweet, chocolate... Roastiness. Flavor is smooth roasted chocolates. Bitterness is slightly off putting for some reason. Not bad, though.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours almost black, with a tall, dark oatmeal head.
Light bitter chocolate, coffee scent.
Taste is the same....watery, roast malt.....thin.
Too bad, nice balance, but weak.
Needs some backbone.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
A tasty porter but not as full flavored as I would have liked. Still nice flavor and enjoyable to drink.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Mild roasted aroma, pours an opaque dark brown, with a light tan head. Chocolate roasted notes, and a bit more hop bitterness then you find in a porter. Light bodied, seems to be missing something, but not a bad porter.
