1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Clear, amber brew with thick, foamy tan head.Aroma is like fresh homemade bread with notes of hops. Very smooth, medium bodied, creamy, ends clean like water. Mild nutty, hops flavor. Decent brew, not great, not drain pour.

1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
This one has a bitter floral end to it which I find somewhat repellent despite its smooth start and the malty aroma. Drainpour.

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle. Pours an amber color with a moderate white head. Little skunky, like a lot of cheap lagers. Slightly bitter malty taste. Bleh.

smells a bit sour, nice otherwise. when i close my eyes and smell this beer i see people enyoing a good ski while cooking chicken marsala. App: when i look at this beer i see the pee of the most dehydrated man. Taste: when i close my eyes and taste this beer i see a majestic grizzly taking a dump on a beautiful snow and christmas tree covered mountian. palate: when i close my and feel this beer in my mouth i see the view out of a picture window in a summer cabin of a pine-cone OA: when i close my eyes and think about this whole experiance i feel as if i had a bad beer on a perfect alpine vacation.

Has a harshness to it that Vienna lagers should not have. If they could get the malts to not be as harsh, this would get a much higher rating.

poured a amber color and had a slight hoppy aroma. A very mild almost bland taste with a mild hint of caramel.

UPDATED: SEP 23, 2006 Saranac amber, lager, what’s the difference. I tasted all three of these Saranac pale yellow beers in my variety case, four beers each; Indian pale ale, Adirondack amber and traditional lager. Price was 88 cents per 12 oz bottle at Beer for Less in Moon Twp. The lagers were a little less pale and the Indian pale ale was just a little more bitter. All three though, I consider a typical American pale yellow beer. They all had about the same over all flavor, that Saranac flavor. They are lively when it comes to carbonation. I’ve had these before and they seem to have not changed over the years. Drinkable. Nothing special. Happier with cheaper beer of the same flavor.
