LinusStick (1573), Moon Township, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 30, 2008 A so so vienna. Nothing special about this one especially since I love Penn Pilsner. Aroma was average. Could pick up bread, caramel malt and a hint of iced tead. Pour was a nice deep dark gold with a thin off white ring for a head. Taste was mostly caramel malt with a hint of roastiness and a slight hoppy aftertaste that doubles with the great carbonation to bite the sides of the tongue.
unclemike (412), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Oct 29, 2008 Bottle. Dark amber body with a small white head. Oddly sweet aroma, dilute toasted malt. Very light bitterness, lightly astringent toasty malt feels wan and dilute. Average to light palate troysworktable (107), Washington, USA Oct 29, 2008 12 ounce bottle. One of six beers in the Saranac Sampler Adirondack Trail Mix six-pack. Drunk in Arlington, Virginia.
Saranac Adirondack Lager poured yellow-orange with a white head that quickly dissipated. It had lively carbonation of small squiggly bubbles. There was absolutely no lacing. The main aromas consisted of graham cracker, the syrup of canned pears, and buttery yeast. The flavor lagged behind, a bastardized version of the aroma’s promise. There was even a hint of varnish lurking in the background.
If it was the only thing available or if it was the only non-macrobrew present, then I would drink it again. Otherwise, I would only use it to clean paintbrushes. auderale (500), Fairchild AFB, Washington, USA Oct 28, 2008 Bottle: Golden colored pour with little to no head. Hoppy, copper aroma. Sweet malty finish. Not bad.... JohnQPublic (252), Brooklyn, New York, USA Oct 28, 2008 Bottle into Sam Adams Lager glass. Pours a clear, effervescent light amber with a one-finger off-white head. Nose is grainy, bit of biscuit, very faint. Taste is kind of un-lager-like - getting green apple and other fruity notes alongside the biscuity malt and light, spicy hops on the finish. A bit metallic also. Decent beer otherwise, but one of the primary issues I’ve had with Saranac beers have been quality control, and this is a prime example. djrn (59), Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA Oct 26, 2008 Nothing special here. A plain jane amber with the usual qualities. Slightly sweet with a subtle hop finish.
