2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: SEP 9, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a light to medium amber with a brownish hue and a thin (less than 1 finger) white head that was fully diminishing and had poor lacing.
The aroma was strong of a toasted caramel malt, a moderate odor of a pine hops and a very mild earthy yeast with just hint of nuttiness.
It tasted very malty right up front with a sweet note of caramel then shifted to bitter hoppy flavor at the finish with the taste laying around for a while.
The mouthfeel was very light in body and rather watery in texture with a lively carbonation.
Overall nothing overly special about this brew, as microbrews go this is more like a domestic beer.

Bottle to English pint glass. Labelled Lager. Pours light amber, two finger head, no lacing, some retention. Aroma of caramel malts and grass. Taste is mostly sweet caramel with a hint of herbal bitterness, Medium light body, moderate carbonation, thin creamy mouth feel. Finishes with notes of caramel, herb and skunk. another rather thin and lightly flavored beer from Saranac, but the body is crisp and the beer well balanced between carmel malt and spicy hops. it still comes off a little bland, but not bad."

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
This beer reminds me of the half mad tirade that F. Murray Abraham does in the award laden film Amadeus. During the scene, if you are not familiar with the film he declares himself the patron saint of mediocrity. And henceforth this beer should stand as the benchmark of mediocrity. Double meh.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
33 cl bottle, 5.5%, 2.10€. Amber color, almost clear, nice smooth creamy white head. Some caramel malts on the nose, quiet. Aroma is soft caramel malts, 5-cereals, cheese, chestnuts, earthy. Taste delicately bitter, balanced. Body is light, somewhat dusty. Short mineral bitter finish. Soft but biting carbonation. As expecting from a lager, nothing exciting.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle brought back by my neighbour from his hiking trip pours deck stain brown with a frothy one finger cap that disappears quicker than my cousin when the cheque comes to the table. A slightly confused brew: more amber than anything else (somehow someone below me calls this a pilsner which is odd). Woody malts, sugary on the tongue & not as crisp as you’d hope for.
