vadavid (131), Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA Dec 3, 2007 Part of the 12 Beers of Winter pack. Pours a red-amber with a 1/4 inch head that rapidly drops. Lots of carbonation rising from bottom of glass; a highly-carbonated beer. Yeast aroma. Crisp mouth feel. Spicy flavor but nothing distinctive. Slightly bitter, medicinal. Not a bad beer, but not one I’d necessarily do back for.
jeff789 (87), Pennsylvania, USA Nov 20, 2008 It has to be amazingly difficult to produce a belgian ale of any quality at this price... While it seems that a genuine effort was clearly made, this misses the mark for me... There is a certain genericness to the taste that turns me off to this... djrn (59), Hackettstown, New Jersey, USA Oct 26, 2008 Didn’t get that much Belgian from this beer. Pours a crystal clear reddish amber with little head. I got a little of the spices but not much else. Disappointing. LinusStick (1573), Moon Township, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 24, 2008 Blah. This is a terrible attempt at a Belgian beer. Aroma was weak. Clove, coriander and bubblegum if you put your nose in the glass. Pour was a nice medium amber with a one finger off white head. Taste was sweet but weak and watery. A hint of yeast with some bubblegum, spice and candi sugar. LIttle carbonation which is odd for a Belgian beer. Blah. dkachur (999), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Oct 23, 2008 12 ounce bottle from a sampler. Pours a clear bronze color with a medium head. Clove, bubblegum and candi sugar in the aroma. Strong yeast in the aroma with some spicy notes. Medium bodied. I don’t get the trappist style part, but still fairly pleasant. Lubiere (3402), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jul 6, 2008 A golden ale with a thin frothy white head. In aroma, a rather chemical orange aroma, a bit of bubblegum, sweet, not bad. In mouth, a malt with lots of curacaoa added, pleasant veering on blanche territory. Very nice. Tasted in late nov. 2006.
