3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Golden colour with just a touch of red. Small head. Lots of sweet hops on the nose, with some parsley and forest moss. Hops immediately in the mouth and they burst with life but fall flat by the end of the palate. There is a sugary background blended with a copper metalic taste. Beer is a light mouth feel with good carbonation levels.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark gold body with a one finger frothy off-white head that left some sticky lacing. Pretty nice resiny and citrus hop aroma with minimal malt. The flavor is a bit harshly bitter for an APA. Just a little bit of hop flavor, it’s mostly bitterness. Light pale maltiness and a little bit of a lingering soapy note. Medium bodied with fizzy prickly carbonation. Don’t care for this one too much.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dec. 27, 2009; 12 oz. bottle (fr. sampler 12-pack). Lovely dark amber pour; sustained head; malty aroma; sour citrus hops are nicely balanced by the candy-sweetness of the malt. The trademark Saranac harshness has, happily, been rounded-off in what may be one of this brewery’s better efforts. Would love to see this specialty brew promoted to a regular offering.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle: Thanks JoeMcPhee! Deep copper/orange pour with good clarity and an off white film of head. Buttery, stale maltose aroma with subdued citrusy hops. Thin bodied and over carbonated. Fairly dry, though with a light grainy note. Over-attenuated and papery. Prickly with faded hop character. Fizzy and restrained.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
A mildly hoppy beer. It does not overwhelm the palate---not complex in flavor. A good beer after working outside nin the cold---accompaning a warm lunch.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A pretty hoppy brew from Saranac. Tastes like it’s been aggressively hopped, fairly bitter, nice amount of malts to even out the flavor, medium body. Great to stay warm on a bitter upstate NY night.
