Commercial Description:
Saranac Black & Tan is a judicious melding of our classic irish stout with an all-malt german-style amber lager. The result is a brew that is hearty, pleasantly bitter and full of flavor, yet can be enjoyed bottle after bottle. Our unique Black & Tan has multiple flavor notes... you may enjoy counting them. Enjoy!

12 oz from variety pack. Pours nice and dark with a foamy white head. I didn’t taste any chocolate or coffee, but it might be in there. I liked it and will drink again.

Pours a nice clear black color with a tan head. Malty aroma, slight hops. Flavor starts out like a lager - hoppy and medium bodied - but finishes very much like a smokey stout. Very interesting transition.

Pours a full black with minimal white head. Hint of coffee in aroma and flavors, with a slightly smoky finish.

Pours used motor oil brown with a thin light tan head that lasts and leaves some lacing. Aroma is fruity, with roast malts and some floral hops. Flavor is coffee malts with a little bitter hops and roast malt to finish. Mouthfeel is a little on the slick side.

Bottle. Black, but thin enough to let some light through. Minimal head, white. Nice nose of dark malts. Mostly malt-forward flavor with some sourness in the back (probably from the blend with a lager) and a sticky finish. Not great, but nothing bad here either.

Had this from a 12oz bottle.Poured a black color with a nice tan head. The aromas were of malt and light coffee, which were also present in the flavors as well as some light vanilla hints.Got a little smoke in the finish. Not too bad overall.
