Commercial Description:
Saranac Black & Tan is a judicious melding of our classic irish stout with an all-malt german-style amber lager. The result is a brew that is hearty, pleasantly bitter and full of flavor, yet can be enjoyed bottle after bottle. Our unique Black & Tan has multiple flavor notes... you may enjoy counting them. Enjoy!

Pours black with a small head. Aroma of roastiness. Mostly malt in the flavor, with a hint of nuttiness and hops toward the back. Smooth, and unlike their other beers, not overcarbonated. A decent offering.

Brilliantly mahogany body with a strident tan head, slow to dissolve, this is a fine marriage of stout sweetness, coffee extract and a hoppy finish. A nice alternative brew.

Last sample from the mix pack, pours dark brown with an amber hue and a small tan head. Aroma has roasted chocolate malts with some coffee. The roasted malts are prevalent in the flavor, with a nice bitterness as well. The light body takes a little bit away from an otherwise enjoyable, easy to drink beer.
