COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
On a cold winterís night, black bears can be found hiding in the Adirondacks to keep warm, while youíre enjoying a beer by the fire. Saranac Black Diamond Bock is a rich malty beer, brewed with traditional German malts and hops then cold fermented and lagered for a smooth malty taste. This brew is appropriate for hibernating wherever you may be. Cheers!

12 oz bottle. This is a typical Saranac. Not great but not heinous. Seems to have lost the olí Saranac aftertaste. After a long hard day of work in the cold, I enjoyed this brew. Decent bock.

This unfortunately was like a Diamond Bockshake when I had it because I left it in the car for a few hours. But, it was still pretty decent. Saranac is known for cheap drinkable beers, and this fits that bill. 5 bucks for a 6er.

bottle. pours a medium amber, not as dark as i was expecting from the "dark lager" and "black diamond" descriptors. nose is caramel and bread. body is heavy. flavor is all malt, but a decent balance of fruit and caramel. finishes with a bit too much sweetness for me, but not a bad beer. and iím not generally a big saranac fan, so iím surprised that i like this ok.

bottle poured an orange amber in color with a big two plus finger head of light tan foam that completely disapeared after a few minutes. aroma has caramel malt, grass, some spice, and slight hops. mouth feel is medium light with little carbination noted. flavor has sweet malt, spice from hops and perhaps yeast that is a little peppery, and a funky metallic thing. light hint of peat in the back ground with little hops present make for a mediocre beer. i do like the labeling of this one a bit better than the same old they usually use.

Nice malty aroma with a touch of spice froma deep amber body with a small white head. Big malty flavor balanced by some hop bitterness and a hallertau hop bite. Nice and balanced. A bit on the light side for a bochk, but still pretty good.

Bottle. Poured a rusty brown, clear and still, but with a decently solid head. The aroma is nutty and bready. This drinks very, very malty ... caramel malt, biscuit, and then a nice bittering. Unfortunately, this isnít quite finished ... instead, Iím left with a mushy, mashy aftertaste that is like a wet loaf of bread. Still, itís not a bad quaff. (#3331, 2/19/2008)

Poured an almost clear copper color, had a tan head with no retention. Aroma was richly malty, some bread like notes, some earth notes. and some caramel notes. Caramel notes were stronger in the flavor then the aroma but not did not over power the mild bread notes. Kind of light on the palate. decent brew though.

Bottle. A very nice medium copper colored body makes this look attractive with a light khaki head on top. The aroma is sweet with a little bit of honey and some floral notes. There are also some hints of caramel. The taste has some light toffee and even some iced tea notes. There is also a little bit of pears. Actually, this is a nicely made bock. A beer in a style I usually do not like, made by a brewer that usually does not impress. Well played.

Bottle. Pretty copper pour. Small foamy tan head. Aroma is toasted malts, slightly burnt caramel and some graininess. taste is malty and sweet with more caramel, hints of burnt bread, and more grains. Surprisingly thick bodied, especially for Saranac. Moderate carbonation. Medium overall feel. Ends with more sweet, toasty malts, caramel, bready flavors and grains. Not bad at all!

really solid beer for a $7 dollar six pack. very smooth, mellow maltiness with a smooth finish. subtle but present palate, overall a really nice beer, especially for the money
