COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Caramel malt sweetness and trademark rich, creamy head. A fitting homage to our Grandfather’s apprenticeship at the Duke of Baden’s brewery in Germany’s Black Forest region.

Bottled, 355ml from Burg Bieren, Ermelo, Netherlands. Dark brown with cream head. Fruity, bramble aroma going on to quite a sweet caramel beer, still some forest fruit notes but a little cloying and heavy. Malt dominates the close. Just too sweet for me.

Koelschtrinker (8491) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 7, 2011
OK. 5/9/9/11/11/9

TAP- Dark black beer with a thin white colar. Very little malts in the aroma. The hops are very sharp, very german. Lighter bodied than expected.

hopscotch (8217) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - SEP 6, 2003
Very deep, lovely crimson lager. Medium-sized, creamy, beige head. Good lacing. The nose is full of chocolate and roasted cashews. Very rich, malty flavor. Chocolate, prune and buttermilk. Just the slightest bit pungent and bitter. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, bittersweet, chocolatey finish. This Schwarzbier pulls up just short of world class!

courtesy of Allen - pours a very dark brown colour with a little beige foam left; toasted malts in the nose with some raisins and black chocolate; good malt body, tasty palate; aftertaste of dark fruits and toasted malts - pretty nice

MoritzF (7756) - Bochum, GERMANY - FEB 28, 2010
(bottle, 33cl) Clear, mahogany colour with a beige and dense medium-sized foamy head. Sweet and berry-fruity aroma with notes of toasted malt, caramel and spicy hops. Sweet-bitter flavour with a tinge of sourness, light to medium bodied with a slightly fizzy carbonation. Moderately roasted malt character with notes of caramel, liquorice and distinctive berry-fruity notes; dry and roasty, also quite hoppy finish. 23.II.10
