2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Dogbrick (6178) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 14, 2012
Clear yellow-gold pour with a medium thin fizzy white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops and malt. Light body with a mildly bitter grassy hops character and notes of biscuit malt and spice. The finish is short and lightly hoppy. Average overall.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dacrza (343) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - MAY 19, 2012
Aroma: citrusy Saaz hops work with bright, alluring malts--smells straight out of Eastern Europe...
Appearance: swiftly effervescent, light golden body that rushes up the flute to stimulate a webbing three-finger white head...
Palate: medium-bodied, slightly oily at the throat but substantial enough to be a lager...
Taste: flavorful, zesty hops that awaken the tongue; refreshingly smooth, with the slightest hint of corn or hay; some banana and clove as well...
Overall: pleasant, softly buffering pilsner--definitely a seasonal that I will seek out in its season...

12oz into a pint. A dank and muddy smell, some grain, some malt, some rustic overtures of percussive hops. A starter for an average pilsner, nothing more to add to the type, but nothing less. Color is pale gold, moderate yellow, and faint washed orange. Taste is hoppy, seldomly consistent though, and orangincally fresh with citrus resemblance thoughout. A pilsner is as a pilsner does.

Without food or anything pairing with it the beer is really light and forgetful.

nothing terrible or outstanding can not add much to what others have said. 12 ounce bottle, leaves a sweet taste on the lips. hint of bitter hops, hint is the key word.

On tap,it came to me pale yellow with a frothy white head. It had hints of vanilla in the aroma. It tasted of bread, and honey with a mild hop sizzle.

Pours a clear gold with a thn white head...dissipates quickly. Aroma is cheaply sweet...mild off scent kind of like vomit. Flavor is sweet and malty with straw notes. Mouthfeel is light and finish is abrupt and tastes of straw. Saranac...would it kill you to use hops?
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 CharmCityCrab (110) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 6, 2012
Appearance is a very light yellow. Smell is mild and reminiscent of an adjunct lager, maybe a hair sweeter. Taste is light bodied with a kiss of hops. I’m going to say this is pretty close to the profile as an adjunct lager, maybe a tad more diverse or plentiful in it’s hops palette, but not by much. I guess if they told me it didn’t have corn in it, I’d probably believe them. Suffers in comparison with the Sam Adams Noble Pilsner, which blows this away in everything except affordability. Doesn’t taste offensive or anything- unless you hate the taste of typical American light lagers. I don’t mind it in a mix pack, but I wouldn’t seek it out. Even though Saranac is inexpensive for craft beer (Got it on sale for the same price as Coors Light), something like this just isn’t worth even the marginal extra cost- if it were a 12 pack of these, I’d just get the adjunct lager instead. But as 2 out of 12 in a mix pack, I guess it’s fine (Some of the beers in the pack are significantly better).

From the 120z bottle as part of a seasonal sampler case. This is a good minimalist pilsener very similar in styling to the Czech breweries for a lot less stress on your dollars. Refreshing and a lean clean body mean you can have several and not feel like you drank the keg. Recommended, particularly if you have a tendency to admire old world European pilseners.
