scottw86 (96), New York, USA Mar 6, 2008 Poured a dark brown with a medium off-white head. Aroma was nice, mostly of caramel and nuts. Taste was a bit watery but quite good. The sweet malt flavor was dominant.
nuplastikk (403), Maryland, USA Aug 14, 2008 12oz bottle. Chestnut-amber color. Malty and sweet. Medium bodied, not really so well balanced. Could use a little more hops or a little less Crystal Malt. I remember holding the Nut Brown in higher regard. Sugary finish, but all around a pretty decent session beer. durhambeer (377), Durham, North Carolina, USA Aug 9, 2008 Bottle. Medium brown. Same consistency of pretty much every other Saranac beer. Malty, sweet, caramel notes, and metallic like most of their beers. Not great, but one of Saranac’s better beers, I suppose. bubbleflubber (646), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Aug 5, 2008 Pours a deep mahogany into the glass, with a small frothy cap that leaves slight soapy lace. Some malt on the nose, sweet caramel-ish, but nothing heavy. Some slightly roasted caramel malt, drier than the nose suggests, dominate the pull, but also incorporates a little unwanted copper-metallic note. Roasted finish, with some lively carbonation (almost too much). Decent body, but off-kilter with the seltzer mouthfeel. Ok, but nothing to write home about. AskForJenny (429), Ontario, New York, USA Aug 5, 2008 12oz - Dark tan head over brown liquid. Faint malt on nose. Roasted malt and hops on palate with a bitter finish. Nice. The_Captain (280), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 3, 2008 Bottle - Brown ale medium head. Mild aroma of malt and some hops. Mellow and mild roast quality with minimal chocolate flavor. Subdued hop bitterness toward the end. Refreshing and nice medium bodied brew, nothing really strong or outstanding.
