COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewers Notes: This Brown Ale is brewed with American malt and hops, and traditional ale yeast. Look for a sweet, chocolaty taste, with balanced bitterness resulting in a full flavored but smoothly drinkable beer.

UPDATED: NOV 15, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a nice clear rich dark brown with a small (less than 1 finger) foamy beige head that was fully diminishing and had poor lacing. The aroma was of a dark roasted malt and a mild sweet yeast with a hint of milk chocolate, a bit of coffee and some nuttiness. It tasted somewhat malty with a hint of chocolate in the beginning then had a slight bitter sweetness to it with a note of coffee and some nuttiness at the end. The flavor lasted an average amount of time after the swallow leaving behind a nice satisfying aftertaste. Mouthfeel was smooth and creamy in texture yet a bit watery and just a tad beyond light in body with a mild carbonation. Overall a tasty and creamy Brown Ale with a nice sweet coffee flavor that was left lingering for a decent while. A great beer and well deserving of its category.

Not a particularly great brown. Mild and a bit too sweet. Nice appearance, medium bodied.

June 2011 from bottle. Amber color, white head. Sweet malty aromas with caramel, spice and nuts. Slightly bitter finish, but nothing unusual or memorable about this brew.

6/14/2011: Saranac Brown Ale... Aroma: Typical for the style. Appearance: Mahogany brown color with an average head of darkish beige foam. Flavor: Mostly toasted malts with dark roasted malt bitterness and a reserved sweetness; littler bitterness or hops shine through, but that’s expected for the style; pleasing nuttiness throughout. Palate: Medium-bodied; smooth; average texture. Overall: Soft, but decent Brown Ale, but not necessarily the best offering from Saranac.

12 fl. oz. bottle from Kroger in Harrison, Ohio. Rating #243 for this beer.

The beer is mahogany colored with an inch of tan head that leaves plenty of lacing on the pint glass. The aroma is pretty weak, with some toasted bread, malt, caramel, and nuts. The flavor is OK, with a light roast presence. The hop character is amped up a bit more than expected. The body is thin, with ample carbonation. Overall, this is a drinkable brew, but nothing special or exciting happening here. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 07-13-2011

Originally reviewed: 2/7/09. Pours a deep brown, but crystal clear. Lots of carbonation rising up. 2-finger off-white head, that stayed pretty well. Decent webbing, rings absent. Smelled of bread, malt, brown sugar, molasses. Pretty good tasting beer. Taste the breadiness, some sweet malt, and finishes with just a hint of hop bite. Warming as it goes down. Good carbonation, a little on the high side. Fairly drinkable. Recommend.

Another 12oz bottle from the mixed 6-pack. Fairly benign and uninteresting brown. Not bad, just fairly average across the board.

bottled. Your standard american brow, not a whole lot else to say. A bit watery.

Bottle from variety 6 pack. Aroma is hoppy, slight toasted malt, slight caramel. Medium bodied, sweet and malty, finishes smooth, slightly bitter, good balance, just very simple. Some caramel, toffee, root beer flavors. I could session a few of these.
