Saranac Caramel Porter is a robust, flavorful porter reminiscent of a by-gone era. True to brewing tradition, we've used dark caramel malt as well as Fuggles & East Kent Goldings hops for a smooth, yet slightly bitter, roasted flavor. Look for hints of real caramel used in brewing this delicious brew. Enjoy.

Dark brown with nice thick head and some lacing. I don't think they stressed CARAMEL enough with this beer. Roasted caramel (slightly artificial tasting) is about all there is to see here. Just too sweet. The first sip gets you thinking it will be a nice desert beer, but by the end of the glass you never want to taste caramel in a beer again. If it were better balanced though it could be quite good.

Car-a-MEL! So, so smooth. I LOVE this beer and haven't been able to find another one. Apparently it's seasonal. Aaaaaa! Cursed! It tastes like they dissolved a sweet creamy caramel candy into a good porter. I'd hope though that they were able to achieve this flavor through malt selection and blending, though. My opinion would fall if I found out they took a shortcut. A good dessert beer.

Interesting combination of flavors, aroma is very nice.....it's seasonal so hard to find, but easy to drink, just not in quantity.

Creamy brown/tan head. Mahogeny hue. Malty sweet, nutty nose, caramel surprisingly coming through. Medium body. Creamy mouthfeel. Caramel flavor is interesting with a slight roastiness backing it also. The flavors are pretty well balanced and work well together. Finishes medium sweet. Nice change of pace brew.

great malty and sweet aroma. A dark brown body with a medium brown head the lasted half way through the glass. A fake caramel taste with no other taste in it what so ever.

Nice medium tan head. I found the caramel and vinous aromas right away. The body was a little thin. Drinkable, but a little sweeter than I'd like.

Dark red/brown, medium tan head. Strong caramel aroma with a little bit of red wine scent. Sweet caramel flavor, unbalanced. A bit too sweet for me. Thin body. Not big on this.

Aroma of delicious carmel, also smells like paint. Dark bron with a hint of red. Flavor is carmel and "thin" somewhat fake. Slight bitter finish as do most porters. Pretty good, but as with most "flavored beers" a bit much

Decent frothy head with nice lacing. Strong butterscotch/caramel aroma. Excellent dark ruby color. Flavor is very sweet with strong flavors of caramel and roasted grains. Finish is clean and slightly dry. A decent brew if you like caramel but not one that you could drink multiple bottles of.

Strong caramel scents in the nose and even stronger caramel flavors in the taste. I actually contemplated whether I was eating a caramel chew or if I was drinking a beer. The jury is still out on that one. A good dessert beer; I guess.
