Saranac Caramel Porter is a robust, flavorful porter reminiscent of a by-gone era. True to brewing tradition, we've used dark caramel malt as well as Fuggles & East Kent Goldings hops for a smooth, yet slightly bitter, roasted flavor. Look for hints of real caramel used in brewing this delicious brew. Enjoy.

Gorgeous pouring porter, with a nice fluffy head that leaves very nice lacing. This beer smells buttery, that is the best word to describe it. I can sense sweetness on the nose also. Smooth, sweet and buttery. A hint of bitterness to finish also some burnt caramel finish. A nice beer, but really cannot drink more than 1 or 2.

Beautiful looking and smelling beer. Nice and dark with a rich caramel aroma. Flavor is overwhelmed by caramel, so much so that you can barely tell you're drinking a porter. Way out of balance. If you get the 6 pack make sure you have 5 friends because drinking more than one is a chore.

Smells like caramel, not beer. Very strong aroma. You'd think it was a brown ale based on the color. Taste mostly of caramel, trace of hops. Tastes more like a Worther's than a beer.

Dark brown with nice thick head and some lacing. I don't think they stressed CARAMEL enough with this beer. Roasted caramel (slightly artificial tasting) is about all there is to see here. Just too sweet. The first sip gets you thinking it will be a nice desert beer, but by the end of the glass you never want to taste caramel in a beer again. If it were better balanced though it could be quite good.

Car-a-MEL! So, so smooth. I LOVE this beer and haven't been able to find another one. Apparently it's seasonal. Aaaaaa! Cursed! It tastes like they dissolved a sweet creamy caramel candy into a good porter. I'd hope though that they were able to achieve this flavor through malt selection and blending, though. My opinion would fall if I found out they took a shortcut. A good dessert beer.

Interesting combination of flavors, aroma is very nice.....it's seasonal so hard to find, but easy to drink, just not in quantity.

Creamy brown/tan head. Mahogeny hue. Malty sweet, nutty nose, caramel surprisingly coming through. Medium body. Creamy mouthfeel. Caramel flavor is interesting with a slight roastiness backing it also. The flavors are pretty well balanced and work well together. Finishes medium sweet. Nice change of pace brew.

great malty and sweet aroma. A dark brown body with a medium brown head the lasted half way through the glass. A fake caramel taste with no other taste in it what so ever.

Nice medium tan head. I found the caramel and vinous aromas right away. The body was a little thin. Drinkable, but a little sweeter than I'd like.
