COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saranac Caramel Porter is a robust, flavorful porter reminiscent of a by-gone era. True to brewing tradition, we've used dark caramel malt as well as Fuggles & East Kent Goldings hops for a smooth, yet slightly bitter, roasted flavor. Look for hints of real caramel used in brewing this delicious brew. Enjoy.

Very good. Slightly bitter, roasty with huge notes of caramel. Could drink this all year long. Very good. Bravo.

A little thin but it has a really pleasant aroma & a decent taste. Pours about black w/ a foamy tan head & spotty lacing. The aroma is of caramel & malt. The flavor also has caramel & a hint of traditional porter bitterness. It’s a bit on the watery side but is quite drinkable. Nothing special but not as bad as the ratings may suggest!

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a snifter. Aroma is caramel, medium/light carbonation, low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is slightly artificial caramel and dark malt.

Not too bad. It is a sweeter style porter, must be the caramel and sugars. Scent has a spiced rum to it. Dark red Brown color but translucent. It has to be warm for the flavors to come out. If it is cold the flavors are gone. Flavor has some nutty and caramel, some fall warmth and makes me think of fallen leaves and campfires. Bottle

Bottle pour into tulip glass. Aroma is strong caramel, also roasted malt. Appearance is dark mahogany with finger-width off-white head that quickly dissipates, fair lacing, and no sparkle. Taste is strong, rich, dark caramel with moderate sweetness balanced with mild bitter finish. Palate is medium bodied with thin texture, average to lively carbonation and dry finish. Overall, the caramel is so strong that it drowns out any other flavors. Not bad, but not subtle either.

Where’s the Caramel? Where’s the porter for that matter. This seems to be a medium brown ale with a little extra coloring to disguise it as a porter. Aroma is vegetable. Dark brown color, small white head. Taste is grass, veggie. Something like raisin in the finish. Low carb.

Poured nicely into a glass. Has a nice brown color. Aroma is one of the beers best features. Too much of an artificial taste.

12 oz bottle compliments of Phatdog1. Poured a clear translucent brown with a beige head. Taste of straight up caramel with a faint malt backbone. Medium carbonation, medium body. Great for the hardcore caramel enthusiast, apparently that’s not me.

12oz bottle, can definitely taste the carmelized sugar, hint of chocolate. A little thin tasting overall for a porter, but Ok. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Oddly enough this one was a bit of a white whale for me. Anyway, it pours a very dark brown with a light brown head. Lots of caramel in the nose. Papery on the tongue. Sweet with plenty of caramel and a slight, non-descript bitterness that doesn’t really help round things out. Well, at least I tried it.

Bottle - Pours mahogany with a ring of light tan head. Nose is caramel vanilla, sweet with lots of dark bread malt. Taste is lots of caramel, vanilla, hazelnut, and dark bread. Medium-thin body with high carbonation. Super caramel-forward and sweet, but okay in small doses.
