Dark brown with tan head. Caramel Aroma. Very sweet overpowering caramel taste then a bit of mild bitterness, followed by sweet caramel again. A bit sweet but I am looking forward to getting this again next year.

Oct 15, 2008 Poured a dark cola brown with red highlights. There was a nice tall, foamy light brown head. A distinct good caramel aroma. The beer had a creamy texture and a nice roasted malt and caramel flavor. The beer rolled into a slightly dry finish

Oct 10, 2008 Rating #400 for the beer. Brown pour, smallish tan head. Aroma is just unreal. Smells just like a butterscotch candy. I could sniff this glass all night. Flavor does not live up to the aroma. It is smooth enough, but the flavor is a bit unbalanced and a tad odd. I could drink this again, but this beer wins with its aroma!

Sep 30, 2008 Pours a dark brown color with a medium thick beige head that diminishes steadily. Caramel malt aroma with a light roasted character. Medium body with flavors of caramel, malt and charred marshmallow. The finish is sweet caramel and toffee with a short malty aftertaste. Overall this beer is one-dimensional and average, like most beers from this brewer.

Sep 25, 2008 The initial aroma is of sweet caramel... The initial taste is of the same sweet caramel, and initially, the taste is quite palatable... BUT, the lingering roastiness and the generic hoppiness muddle the sweetness of the caramel that should come through... If you take a sip every couple of minutes after your palate has cleared, this is an ok beer...

Sep 24, 2008 All the good qualities of a porter and none of the bad. Good aroma, smooth flavor which has a hint of the heavy porter maltiness. The caramel lightens it up and takes away some of the typical bite. Little to no aftertaste.
