Tessic (367), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Jul 7, 2008 This porter poured a deep black colour with a nice creany tan head. to the nose there is scents of heavy caramel. A little hopp and slight alcohol warming but I can’t get past the caramel. First taste was very creamy and smooth with a very strong flavour of caramel. It wasn’t until the caramel subsided that I could get a little hopp flavour. Palate had a little hoppy bitter flavour that barely came through.
matt7215 (540), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Aug 14, 2008 12 oz bottle from a trade with funknmilla. pours nice dark brown almost black with a fizzy tan head that is quickly gone. aroma of caramel syrup, butterscotch. the aroma is so sickly sweet i dont even want to try a sip. oh my god im goin to puke. terrible sweet caramel butterscotch syrup that coats your tounge in disgusting foul candied badness. maybe this would be good on vanilla ice cream........? k im back the vanilla ice cream thing is ok but even then this is a foul creation. i did bump up my overall from 1 to 3 because i could finish my icecream but as a beer this is a 0.7. unclemike (328), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Aug 11, 2008 Deep dark brown body, with a light brown frothy head. A Porter should be darker than this beer. Nice aroma, sweet malts, a hint of coffe. Farily thin for a porter too, The flavor is bit water but grows to a decent malty flavor. There is some differnt flavors in the finish...But not caramal and not the coffee from the aromoa. love this beer bconger (46), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Aug 3, 2008 Bottle. Molasses-brown pour with a thick, tan head. Aromas of caramel and brown sugar dominate, but there is a hint of spoiled fruit as well. No rotten fruit in the flavor though - it’s all sticky, caramel-apple caramel. Not cloyingly sweet and appropriately carbonated. This isn’t the most distinguished beer I’ve ever had, but it’s a lot of fun. Something of a novelty brew, this is one I’ll come back to and will pair with everything from honey-glazed pork to desserts. coffek74 (5), , Alabama, USA does not count Aug 3, 2008 Intensley flavorful with strong caramel. Smells sweet but doesn’t taste sweet. Would expect bitterness, but it’s only very slight. A+ dessert beer. One of my favorites all around. stefanje (540), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jul 17, 2008 12 oz bottle, extra from Beastiefan2k(thanks). Pours a chestnut brown with a big clumpy beige head that has plenty of lacing. The aroma is all caramel. This is nose is simple and elegant and perhaps the best caramel aroma I’ve yet encountered. The flavor does not quite live up to the aroma, there is plenty of caramel there too mind you, but something in the taste that would take this to the next level is missing. The mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side, but still malty. The finish is medium in duration and astringent with a slightly gritty feel. Overall: This is a very unique beer that is worth trying. Recommended.
