Clear amber pour with faint offwhite head. Nose is slightly cocoa. Flavor is not all that great. A little burnt. A little caramel. A little tootsie roll. Fake. Didn’t really care for it.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Large, white, fine bubbled head that slowly faded. surprisingly light colored and flavored. I expected the chocolate to make it darker and heavier. Slightly sweet, refreshing, lightly hopped. More a summer beer. It went down quickly, a good session beer. Not much of an aftertaste.

The beer is a decent middle of the road beer, the best part is the coco nibs in the background.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Occasion: still sick, but getting better with meds....
Glassware: nondescript pilsener...
Appearance: tan brown/orange body with a thin off-white head...
Aroma: fresh, cocoa hints are a quick burst; fleeting, otherwise weak malts...
Palate:medium-bodied and smooth; plapable but not heavy...
Taste: sweet toffee/caramel plays with the cocoa in a welcoming dance...
Overall: pleasant though not overpowering--a malty chocolate seasonal that satisfies....

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours clear amber with a medium tan head. Aroma malty and generic...mildly wheaty. Tastes like a tootsie roll with some wheatiness. Mouthfeel is light and the finish has mild chocolate and earthy, bland malts.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a dark red color with a foamy head which disappears within 30 seconds or so. Cherry, coffee, and earth shine through in the smell. Tastes like an odd mixture of chocolate (very very bitter), coffee, and alcohol. Not overly sweet. Take away: tastes like the smell of dirt with some real bitter chocolate overtones.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep brown amber. Aroma of caramel and chocolate. Taste is fairly smooth. The middle tastes a bit sour like a bad porter. The aftertaste leaves a bit of chocolate which is nice.

1.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
Clear, slightly brown, copperish coloured body with a thin light brown head - doesn’t look too great. Aroma of malt, metal, blood and perhaps a hint of cardboard - nothing chocolatey at all here. Light-bodied; Strong nuttiness and some malty notes with a large dose of deep earthy bitterness and some odd funky characteristics with the smallest hint of decent chocolate - more along the lines of bad bitterness. Aftertaste shows that funky bitterness that is more like earth and dirt than chocolate - not too pleasant at all. Overall, not a great beer by any means and not one even worth drinking. I figured from the name of the beer that this one would be awful and I was correct - simply not a good beer. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York for US$1.19 on 18-November-2011 sampled at home in Washington on 04-January-2012.
