COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This dry-hopped lager’s distinctive flavor comes from boiling mash being added back into the brew. Traditionally German. Uniquely Saranac. Totally delicious.

This beer is a bright orange-amber color with a medium foamy white head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, caramel and grassy hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of toasted malt, caramel and mild herbal hops. The finish is malty up front with a slightly peppery hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sampled on 3/16/2014. This Vienna/amber pours a medium amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is malty and sweet, apples and some brown sugar. A medium bodied Vienna, The malts are fruity, caramel and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. A touch of apples and brown sugar. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Twelve ounce bottle from Saranac winter variety pack purchased at Delhi Walgreens. Medium to dark amber hue, aroma that seems at first like a pale ale, nice bittersweet flavor, good hop taste, although something is a little off in the aftertaste. Kind of like a lager version of an APA.

Bottle. Pours dark golden with an inch of off-white head. Smells of light grapefruit. Taste is grasses, light grapefruit. Reminds me a bit of Dortmunder Gold.

Poured a clear amber color with a nice one finger off-white head that dissipated almost entirely and left noticeable lacing around the glass. Aroma was citrus hops and Carmel malt. Taste was more malty than hoppy in my opinion and was slightly bitter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From bottle. Sweet neutral fruity hop aroma, sweetish with light caramel. Medium amber clear with thin creamy-foamy off-white lacing head. Medium watery body with medium-high carbonation. Starts moderatley sweet with carbonic bite, light caramel and neutral fruity character. Mild hop bitterness with dry finish and mild nutty astrinency. Medium bitter after.

Bottle. Very strongly hoppy right out of the bottle, Euro hops but very green, and somewhat unpleasantly so. Pours a deep amber, with nice orange and red tones, moderate carbonation and a sudsy beige head. Some stale tire air. Taste is a little sharp, some booze showing, relatively dry with cutting graininess and meek caramel. Medium body, not so much smooth as flat, with very faint touches of bitterness and tartness. Earth and fruit likewise heavily restrained. A bit dirty, truth be told, and despite the marketing, doesn’t really strike me as a lager, let alone some mad scientist’s first flirtation with decoction. Oily with raw hoppiness.
