2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle, aroma less appealing for a lager but taste is better than what aroma suggested. A simple lager with some crisp light hop taste.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a clear gold color. The head is two fingers high and barely off-white in shade, and retention is pretty good. There’s a lot of lacing left behind, and the end result is a damn good looking brew.
S: Mild and unpronounced. There are slight notes of ginger and grass from the hops, while the malts are faintly sweet. If I really concentrate, I can pick up some apricot. Allowing it to warm up, at least, will give it a decent tea-like vibe. At the end of the day, I like tea, so I can’t hate on the nose too badly.
T: The initial flavors bring a little bit of apricot, before it finishes with faint touches of herb, citrus, and sugar cookie. At times, it’s slightly redolent of green tea. Not very deep...then again, most lagers aren’t. This quenches the thirst nicely.
M: Not the driest lager in the world, but dry enough - alongside its clean bite - to give it great drinkability. I think the fact that it isn’t as watery as a lot of other Saranac brews helps it a great deal elsewhere. Carbonation stays in the background, which might be the reason it isn’t so bone dry.
O: It isn’t saying a whole lot, but this is probably my favorite of the Saranac 12-pack so far. It is a genuinely decent lager, though I can see how the mild hoppiness would be a letdown to someone expecting a full-blown IPL. Go into it expecting a slightly-hoppier-than-normal pilsner and you might just enjoy it.

Not a lager lover, and this doesn’t sway me to the good. It is tolerable and I can drink this if given to me, but I won’t be seeking this out by any means.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, BB JUN 30 2014. Nose is lightly bready, strongly of pils malt, very clean and lightly grassy, citrus, light herbal, wonderful aromatics straight out of the bottle. Clear, richly golden pour with lots of slow-moving carbonation, sudsy off-white head. Crisp medium body, lightly bitter, lightly sweet, getting light fruit under the citrus, some melon; floral and herbal, with malt pushed back from center a bit. Lightly spicy, very very bg contribution from the etoh (and a positive one). Shocked at how much I’m enjoying this, some really nice hop flavors that one normally must strain and search to find.
Oop, there it is, I knew there had to be a flaw: too-buttery finish, really noticeable after a few ounces. Doesn’t really detract for me, though.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
As lagers go, this one is not bad. Looks like a typical lager in the glass with a head the disappears almost immediately. The aroma is typical lager with a bit of hops. The pallet is a bit more interesting, you can definitely taste some hops with some traditional lager wet cardboard. The finish is fairly mild and not unpleasant. As lagers go, it's decent. But as beers go, you can do much better.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A clear golden body with a white head that had good retention and some lace. Sweet malts. Floral hop presence initially. There was a mild sense of corn and a hint of talcum powder. Flavor was well balanced. Good crisp lager characteristics. Hops were slightly bitter but mostly floral. Flavor was overall mild but the flavors worked. Enjoyed this beer.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Saranac Dry Hop Lager is brewed with North American and German malt using Perle, Mittlefruh and Saphir hops in the kettle. In aging, we dry hop with Opal, a new variety known for its citrus and herbal characteristics, and Taurus, a unique new variety with wonderful aromatic qualities. Lagers aren’t typically dry hopped, but we wanted to showcase a lager blooming with hop flavor and aroma. You’ll experience a medium body with subtle malt notes to round out this uniquely hopped brew. Cheers!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours true gold. Amber. Has a fat off white head that lasts and left lace. Clear but does not have too many lager bubbles floating upwards. Nose is really nice! Bright with floral and a touch of sweet grain. A hint of nutty flavor and light sweet grass. Taste is really good. Cracker malt that becomes a bit breaddier as it warms, lightly sweet. The dry hops add a bit of weight to the mouthfeel from the oils they left behind. The carbonation on mine was a bit flat and I did not hear a big "pfffft" when I opened the bottle. It could have had more carbonation to crisp it up a bit. Very clean and the hops did not impart any fruitiness or bitter. A touch of drying in the finish. I like it. Well done Saranac.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
For supposedly being 30 IBU and dry-hopped during aging there is not much hop presence in the nose, but what is there is pleasant. The appearance is unremarkable, a gold color with modest head. The taste is also unremarkable, a smooth malt with a bit of hop and a short finish. All of this makes for a bland sipping experience.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
From a bottle. Pours clear amber with a fizzy white head. Tastes like malt, wheat, some yeast, and a cider feel. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like cool malt and grains.
