3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 UDBeernut (904) - Near Buffalo, New York, USA - FEB 26, 2012bottle poured into a weizen glass
a: light straw yellow, 1/2" head that quickly reduces to a lacing cap. Like the rest of Matt FX’s beers I have had, it has a boat load of carbonation.
s: tart wheat scent, slight clove. slightly more fragrent than the usual from Saranac
t: sweet when it hits the tounge, it becomes balanced with clove and slight flower pedals.
m: Medium bodied, I like my weizens to be a bit lighter in the mouth.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Drjohnrock (288) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 12, 2013
12 ounce bottle from Saranac 12 Beers Of Summer 12 pack purchased at Sams Club. Cloudy orange/yellow color, small white head that slowly left with litlle lacing, moderate to strong sweet/spicy/banana/clove/wheat aroma, sweet/spicy/somewhat astringent taste that’s certainly not as interesting as the aroma and with more clove than I personally like--other might be more favorably disposed to it.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Blairgus (1798) - California, USA - OCT 28, 2012
28 Oct 212, bottle. yellow, faintly hazy, some occasional bubbles. nose is faint banana pudding, maybe some banoffee pie. it’s not the big hefe nose you look for. thin body and fizzy. faint banana, some pepper. fizzy and crisp and obscures the flavor. not that nice for a hefe
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Patrickctenchi (1837) - columbus, Indiana, USA - OCT 23, 2012
Pours not-quite clear honey-gold..
tall off-white head.
Scent is clove,banana....wheat...
Taste is the same, but in reverse order...
Pretty light, not overly sweet or wheaty overall...
Not a bad offering....a decent everyday domestic Hefeweisen.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Bierkrug (1921) - Idar-Oberstein (In Iraq), Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - SEP 24, 2012
355 ml bottle from The Beer Store in Monticello, NY. Pours a cloudy orange color with a large off white head. Aroma is a weak citrus and Hefe nose. Taste is a weak and watery example of style. Palate is waeks and ends slightly bitter. Not a good example of style. Another example of try to make way too many beers and not perfecting any of them.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Scrapersnbeer (1018) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 16, 2012
Typical wheaty aroma, more citrus than banana in this one. Hazy orange. Taste is bittersweet with banana elements more evident. Very smooth, does not bite as expected. Aims high and falls a bit short.

From a 12 ounce bottle into a shaker pint glass.
A: Pours a hazy orange/yellow with a nice head that quickly disappears.
S: Very fragrant and fresh. Wheat, lemon and orange notes.
T: Delicious wheaty sweetness is accompanied by banana and clove flavors. A slight bit of lemon crawls into the back end.
M: Crisp balanced & smooth, light bodied with light carbonation.
O: Very drinkable. Very flavorful. Maybe the best beer of the 6 showcased in the Saranac Summer 12 pack
Serving type: bottle

Bottle from BevMo. Lightly spiced, yeasty nose. Some wheat and spice. A fair amount of yeast. Not super clean, but a decent attempt at the style.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 ChainGangGuy (4132) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - JUL 20, 2012
12 ounce bottle - $1.49 at Charlie’s Beer and Wine in Marietta, Georgia. BB Sep 2012.
Appearance: Pours a lightly cloudy, darkish, dull orange-hued body with an ultra thin, white head that’s gone in seconds.
Smell: Some malted wheat, some raw grain, some banana, some clove. Not much going on at all.
Taste: Lightly grainy, malted wheat with a low level of sweetness. Powdered sugar atop stale bananas. Pop of clove spiciness, which is the predominate taste until the hohum finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: A rather weak, cheerless rendition of the style.
