3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAR 25, 2012 Aging this beer for only 2 months has actually really affected the taste. At first the aroma was all piney hops and alcohol. Now hops are still very detectable but cocoa and caramel stands out much more. Originally the taste was straight up hops. Pine, citrus, nice and bitter with alcohol on the backend. Now im hit with a lot of chocolate and caramel upfront. Very sweet, maybe some dark fruit, still a little to complex to disern. Hops present at end. Pine and slightly metallic, not an offensive metallic. Not nearly as hoppy and alcohol is barely detectable. I figured this would be an interesting beer to age as it is brewed with 10 hops and 10 malts. Yes aging decreases hops but I figured malts would age well which they did. So suprised such a short time really changed this beer. From a strong bitter hoppy boozy ipa to a smooth sweet beer. Got another sitting in the closet to sit another few months. Really intrigued to see what happens.

Hello. Do you like hops? Ok, then this might be for you. Bright, citrus, some grapefruit and pine hit you in the mouth. One thing of note is that the alcohol is readily apparent and was somewhat distracting when I had this. If you donít mind that sort of thing (and you probably donít if double IPAs are your thing), then go for it.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours murkey dark amber with a small head. Aroma is lacking for an imperial IPA with very little int eh way of floral hops. Medium in body with a bit of stickiness. Flavor is a bit sweet for the style, but not bad.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle, pours red/orange with thick fine-bubbled head. Strong aroma, what I want in an IPA. Very hoppy, in a good way. A very nice IPA that I will buy again.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Pours orangey amber with a medium-sized off-white head and some good lacing. Aroma is very muted -- some toffee and piney hops. Flavor is bigger, but itís still very mild for a IIPA. Oddly, the sweet, fruity malt (cherry, raisins) dominates the hops. Didnít find the flavor very complex. Came out a bit more as it warmed, but still not there for me. Mouthfeel was thick and sticky.
