Color is amber, aroma very hoppy and yeasty (close to a soft cheese smell) and some dark fruits.
Taste was hoppy at first and malty / sugary kicking in after with the hops still dominant. nearbeer (1101), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 20, 2008 12 oz. Clear, orange-copper with a 3-finger creamy and lasting head. Resin, caramel, grapefruit and light cocoa on the nose. Flavor is earthy tea leaf, resin, peppery molasses, grapefruit, alcohol and oak. Light-medium body is mostly smooth, a tad slick, and finishes dry. rocbyter (594), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Jul 7, 2008 Hop aroma mixed with light malts. Clear dark orange color with a medium tan head. Mild malt start with a bitter middle and finish. Creamy palate. Oakes (6793), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jul 5, 2008 Bright golden-bronze. The aroma is strongly hoppy, a little lacking in brightness but with nice blackberry, peach and red currant. The body is a bit light, with a huge, unbalanced alcohol signature. Too thin, too much alcohol and the big hops from the nose don’t translate much to the palate. riversideAK (1468), Shoreline, Washington, USA Jul 2, 2008 Bottle from sleepylopes. Thanks man! Pours a cloudy amber with a thin lasting head. Aroma is rather sweet for the style with lots of caramel and sweet toast. Some grassy elements come across as sweet too. Sweet up front flavor. Lots of malts give it a initial caramel and toffee sweetness, a little brown sugar, and is followed by some grassy, spicy, and peppery hops that are a mildly bitter. Finishes somewhat dry with hops that coat the tongue for a second. Too sweet for the style IMO.
