| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 15, 2008 Not that bad at all. From a brewery I ususally accuse of forced beers with artificial flavors. Nice pour, khaki head, good retention. Somewhat confused aroma of hop, burnt sugar, and coffee. The first sip is suprising, nice chocolate and roasted coffee foiled by body built on carbonation and slight malty creaminess. Well balanced. The body is a constant question. Just a little too much un-natural carbonation provides the lift and the finish. Perhaps the hop and tannins from roasted mallt should. Overall; very well priced, well concealed booze, and clean enough to sip a few. Not bad at all, tasty. dkachur (2356), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 15, 2008 Bottle courtesy of hopdog. Aroma of coffee. The taste is somewhat treacherous. Starts off like sucking on coffee grounds, but suddenly mellows out. Rough at first, smooth in the end. Curious brew. Maverick34 (698), New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 11, 2008 Draft. Easily one of the best Saranac’s I’ve had. Pours dark, taste is coffee & chox and the alcohol is well disguised. Darkover (1312), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Aromas of roast, chocolate, dark fruits, light pine, and molasses. Tastes of roast, chocolate, coffee, and some dark fruits. Alcohol content well hidden. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 9, 2008 Bottle. Black body, tan head, roasty anisette nose. Dark fruits dominate the flavor, somewhat roasty, more like an English IS than your typical US examples. Nicely done. cheapdark (2016), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Feb 9, 2008 Last one on the shelf, just a neck label. Twist off cap for imperial stout pleasure, if you can call it that. Fragrance of alky sweet licorice. Looks really really black but there is no scum on the bottom of the bottle. Rude bitter dark coffee and bitter dark chocolate flavor with a no fizz palate. Overall, as good as any other imp stouts. Thick alky laced dark beer. Over the top. It’s difficult for me to distinguish within this style. I bet this is one of Sary’s higher rated brews. Offensive and barely drinkable, as with most impy stouts.
