Commercial Description:
Mt. Marcy, Skylight, Algonquin...Majestic Adirondack High Peaks - They are the inspiration for our "High Peaks" series, a line of beers that are bigger, more complex and flavorful; beers that are meant to be sipped and savored. The second in our series, Saranac Imperial Stout, is brewed with eleven malts to balance a delicious chocolate and coffee roasted flavor with the spicy herbal character of the generous kettle and dry hops. At 50 IBU's this beer captures the essence of the Adirondacks. Enjoy!

12oz bottle. The color is a glossy black with spotty head of dark tan cream and a smooth tan ring of lace. The aroma is surprisingly nice. Some roast, chocolate, and a hit of something else... maybe candy? The flavor is pretty nice as well. Quite a bit of bitter roast, some chocolate, and that candy-sugary flavor. Maybe like brown sugar. The body is right on for a stout of this size. I’m quite happy with this Saranac beer.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2008) Black colour with creamy, pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with black coffee, dark chocolate and fresh hints of hops. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, liquorice and a decent cocoa bitternes in the finish. Nicely balanced and tasty. Good beer!

Courtesy of orcasteve. Pours black, brownish head. Aroma roasted, light hops, malty and grainy. Taste, dry, roasted cofee matls, some dark fruits. This is is loaded with alcohol. Very sweet beer with a nice molasse aftertaste. A really good Imp. Stout.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Black and opaque with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of hard roasted malt and dried fruit. Very solid body with plenty of burned malt and almost vinous pruny accents. Also plenty of sweet licorice, coffee and alcohol. Some malt bitterness in the finish. A very straight and well composed Imperial Stout. 190908

Pours a dark black that shows some light. The head is one finger thick creamy and dark tan. The nose was malty, sweet, roasty, soy sauce, chocolate, coffee, molasses. The flavor is roasty, some soy sauce, bitter chocolate, coffee, roasty, some charcoal, a tad thin, crisp, some alcohol. The palate is crisp, has a mild bitterness, warm alcohol. Not as bad as I expected.
