COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Taking an “India Pale Ale” to the next level this copper ale has the malt backbone to carry the hoppiness you expect in an “India Pale Ale”. Carefully selected malts from North America and Europe are decoction mashed to highlight there character and the brew is complemented with generous amounts of Columbus, Cascade and Centennial hops. Cheers!

Pours a clear amber/copper color with a medium tan head. Aroma has tea-like hop notes, mild citrus, and caramel malt backing. Flavor has a leafy hoppiness and roasty maltiness. Mouthfeel is light and smooth...finish is more malty than hoppy...somewhat earthy.

Pours a rich copper color and tastes great. Nice balance of citrus. One of the best beers in the Winter 12 pack.

From the sampler case. I think Saranac made a good effort to compete in the arena of IPA’s and could come out in the "Best Effort" category. There are some complexities here that make for a rich drinking experience and you’d hate yourself for missing this one. In Pittsburgh, you can grab a case of Saranac samplers and save a considerable sum in doing so, bringing home twelve different beers to try. It’s a lot of fun and could open some eyes in the beer community.

Poured from the bottle. Aroma is carmely and malt, thehops are dank. The flavor is much better on this bitter with a nice malt body. Overall OK. One of the best ambers I’ve had.

Nice color in the glass, it has a malty aroma. Taste is fairly smooth with a pretty strong taste of hops. There is also an herbal flavor to it. Crisp finish but not long.

Pours clear deep coppery with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is roasty caramel malt, hops. Tastes caramel malty, with a pronounced hop bill, good complexity, and a crisp hoppy finish. Gets a bit tart late.

Aroma is a sweet yet strong hop. Taste is a sweet roasted malt with a bitter hop bite. Overall not my style, but decent.

Saranac’s Beers of Winter #6. Smells like moderately hopped pale ale and looks like a stronger IPA. Nice malt-to-hops balance. Medium body and well carbonated. This beer is bitter and filling, and in my opinion the best in the winter pack. Didn’t think Matt could pull it off.

Bottle. Poured a clear brown color with an average to large frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting and had good lacing. Moderate toasted malt & hoppy aroma. Medium to full body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet smooth flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good brew.

Pours a dark amber with a 1" head. Nice aroma of malt, honey and hops. Light to medium bodied with a nice palate and a pleasant hop balance. Not bad.
