2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Not one of my favorite ipas. Hops were reasonable but lacked the kick and aftertaste i expect from an ipa.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Forms a huge head and tastes like the typicial American IPA (havent seen it reviewed like that huh?). Like I said about the Pale Ale, it's not a bad thing.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is a very good beer that I just purchased as part of a Saranac variety 6-pack, and I LIKE THIS BEER! True, it doesn't have the richness of the European IPA's (which explains the rather weak aroma), but the Saranac product is darn crisp and hoppy in its own right. Heck, this onr definetly hogties and rear entries any of that macrobrew swill!

A decent example of the style, but nothing to brag about. Typical of many IPAs from a smaller brewery.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: NOV 30, 2003 Not bad. I like it better than their Pale Ale (I think), but both are still similar. Perhaps my palate needed cleansing. Nice bitterness at the end, and a lasting after taste. Not too hoppy, pretty crisp and clean taste that is mild and unoffensive.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
No doubt the most successful of the Saraac Adirondack trail mix six packs. Beautiful clear golden color with an adequate head that disappears fast, leaving the glass laced like a window that has been sprayed with Christmas decoration snow. Surprising amount of aromatic hops for an IPA, but an adequate amount of bitter hops, the best from a Saranac I have had so far. Not quite the citrus I am used to from an American IPA, but I think they have combined classic hops and American hops well. By no means a great IPA, but a good and interesting beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Floral and aromatic bouquet. Exactly
what I expect in an IPA. Nice color too.
Golden. Hoppy all of the way through.
Little bit of malt mixed with strong hop
bitterness that finishes with a citrous,
pine, and grass flavor. Finally, an IPA that
uses Cascade hops responsibly. Great

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Being an IPA fan I had to rate this high, it's a pretty good beer to drink for a night.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: JUN 21, 2003 Pour is a nice orangy color with a mild white head. (update: this head is present throughout and left perhaps the best lacing I have ever seen on my glass) The first thing that hits you is a bunch of carbonation, followed by a malty taste that tends to linger. This is somewhat bitter and not the most pleasant. I love Saranac beer, but this one is definitely not one of my favorites.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(12 oz. bottle) Not bad, manages to avoid the over-pasteurization common to Saranac's beers. Hops are present, but not overpowering, the flavor is lemony and bitter as an IPA should be. Decent representation of the genre, but in no way remarkable...
