psuCE03 (110), York, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 2, 2008 Nice spicy hop aroma and a nice foamy head on this kigh amber colored IPA. Taste is hoppy but I would place it somewhere between a Pale Ale and an IPA in that regard. Overall very refreshing.
McGarnigle (182), Rochester, New York, USA Oct 11, 2008 Bottle. Copper/amber, but maybe a notch lighter than most IPAs. Citrusy Cascade hop aroma. Same hops on the tongue, but not particularly strong. Malt body is also somewhat light. Not a big flavor for the style. A bit too thin too. Not bad. Ultimately, more for the average beer drinker than for the hop head. malrubius (455), USA Oct 7, 2008 12 ounce bottle in pint glass. Golden with nice head and lace. Mild piney hop aroma. Slightly watery malt with a tinge of caramel fruit and mild hop finish. Medium body and medium carbo. Indistinct but drinkable. Rastacouere (5409), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 6, 2008 Crystal clear pale amber constructing almost no head at all. Wheeww, rather poor aroma where loose melon notes meet dulled down citrus aromatics. Rather dry on the palate with stale bread malt foundations and a hop range that lacks any trace of freshness. (No date on the bottle, but bought 3-4 weeks ago). Failing to provide any highlights and staying mediocre with its watery thin body. Salt cracker finish. Next please. fidelis83 (62), Clinton, Iowa, USA Oct 2, 2008 Pours amber to soft copper with a thin white head that some lacing and lasts. Aroma is mostly pine, and bitter hops, with a bit of faint oatmeal sweetness. Flavor is nice but hasn’t the bite of the IPA style I have come to love. Grapefruit, bitter, and resiny hops; with a fruity, honeysuckle nectar, cantaloupe melon sweetness. FInish is bitter grapefruit resiny hops, but pretty weak for the style. Mouthfeel is thin and sticky. Like all other Saranac’s I’ve had it’s not a bad beer overall. However it seems to sacrifice complexity, and strength for drinkability and popularity en masse. Call it IPA LIte! JCW (1262), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 1, 2008 Got this in a Saranac variety 6 pk. Aroma of cascade is present, but not overwhelming. Visually it slightly light coloured for an IPA. The colour speaks for its body which is also slightly light for the style. Many brewers now days would probably call this just a pale ale. While its very drinkable, it is not very memorable.
