COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep within the heart of the Irish lies an uncanny passion for what they call "leann dubh", or black ale. Saranac Irish Style Stout is a lavish beer blended with dark malts to create a coffee like taste. Look for a roasted character that is surprisingly smooth and refreshing, pint after pint. Cheers!

A black body with a thin tan head with good retention and some lace. A roasted malt profile upfront, some mild coffee qualities. Flavor seemed one dimensional. IT seemed to have just roasted malts to it, while there was a bit of coffee to it there was not enough to really make a difference. The beer was not decent and the one sided did not negatively affect the beer. It just left me wanting a little more balance. A nice dry finish.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4547) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 17, 2014
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy dark tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was a bit sour and roasty with a bit of vanilla. The flavor was malty, toasty and roasty with notes of vanilla and cola. Medium length malty and roasty vanilla and cola finish. Medium body.

This is an approachable, balanced rendition of Irish stout. The aroma displays the usual roast tones. The appearance is a shade pale compared to many stouts, and the head retention is weak. The taste is malty with proper and balanced bittering. I suppose it would pair well with meaty dishes and is sessionable too.

From a bottle. Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Tastes like bitter coffee, grains, dry chocolate. Light body and low carbonation. Smells Like malt and old coffee.

Bottle from sampler pack. Pours dark brown with creamy tan head. Aroma is lightly roasted malts, faint chocolate, faint dates, and light toffee. Flavor is a mix of chocolate and roast malts, light ash, and light earthiness; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

12oz bottle, pours black with average head. A decent creamy stout although a bit thinner than some others in this style. Not bad, but not too memorable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours black into a Sam glass. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Chocolate syrup aromas. Astringent with dry sour caramel and chocolate front to back. Lasting charred bitter finish.

Bottle at brother’s wedding shower. Pours black-brown with a creamy tan head. Nose of ashy roast and burnt toast. Light sweet flavor with dry ashes, minerals, mild earthy bitterness, charred wood. Light bodies with fine to average carbonation. Lightly bitter to finish, more ashy roast, mild cocoa, dry earth. Fine.

Light with dark malty flavors. Good representation of a fairly simple style. Nice toasty lingering aftertaste.
