3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle. Pours clear dark brown. Head is somewhat minimal. Smells of coffee and malt. Tastes of smoke, mocha, and coffee. Body is thin and crisp, like a lager, and very refreshing. Nice drinkabilty. Not as filling and sticky as a regular stout. Great beer.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a Guinness pint glass.
The color is a dark black with maroon hight-lights and a finger of foamy brownish head with some slight lacing left on the glass.
The smell is filled with dark malts and some raisin aroma with a touch of other dark fruits and a little burnt aroma.
The taste is a little chocolaty at first with some dark malt flavor that has a slight smoke flavor to it. Some roasty flavor with a dry with some slight bitterness toward the end.
The feel of this beer is dry and medium bodied with a nice smooth finish and a great light aftertaste that is there for a short time then is gone.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
The body is black as night and blocks out all light. On top of this dark opaque brew there is a light tan colored head which is tall (about 2 and a half fingers thick) and long lasting. It also makes great intricate lace patterns on the glass as I drink. Its aroma is full of dark roasted and toasted barley malt with inviting deep coffee notes. There is a nice mellow roasted barley and toasted maltiness with the same coffee like notes in the nose. There is only light malt sweetness here before the hops come in and adds bitterness and dryness along with earthy and herbal spice flavor. It is not bone dry but it finishes on the dryer side with nice hop notes and roasted notes quick fading off the tongue. It has a solid medium body, smooth texture and good soft yet active carbonation. Overall this was good solid dry stout. I am a fan of Saranac but this one still surprised me. I would take this over a Guinness Draught any day!

Not too shabby, but not too good either. A decent beer to round out the spring sampler 12 pack, but I would have rather had a lighter beer, maybe a wheat of sorts with a fruit flavor, but this was a nice surprise when you didnt expect much from it.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A black body with a thin tan head with good retention and some lace. A roasted malt profile upfront, some mild coffee qualities. Flavor seemed one dimensional. IT seemed to have just roasted malts to it, while there was a bit of coffee to it there was not enough to really make a difference. The beer was not decent and the one sided did not negatively affect the beer. It just left me wanting a little more balance. A nice dry finish.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy dark tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was a bit sour and roasty with a bit of vanilla. The flavor was malty, toasty and roasty with notes of vanilla and cola. Medium length malty and roasty vanilla and cola finish. Medium body.

la mejor de las 6 me dio ganas de una guiness
Deep within the heart of the Irish lies an uncanny passion for what they call "leann dubh", or black ale. Saranac Irish Style Stout is a lavish beer blended with dark malts to create a coffee like taste. Look for a roasted character that is surprisingly smooth and refreshing, pint after pint. Cheers!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
This is an approachable, balanced rendition of Irish stout. The aroma displays the usual roast tones. The appearance is a shade pale compared to many stouts, and the head retention is weak. The taste is malty with proper and balanced bittering. I suppose it would pair well with meaty dishes and is sessionable too.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12oz bottle, pours black with average head. A decent creamy stout although a bit thinner than some others in this style. Not bad, but not too memorable.
