Commercial Description:
This golden sparkling blond ale was brewed to pay homage to a 1000-year tradition rooted in Cologne, Germany. Clear, crisp and easy to drink, the Kolsch of today is lighter than the "House" beer that was served in Cologne 200 years ago - the city that made Kolsch famous. We hope you'll enjoy it!

Poured a very clear yellow/amber with a foamy white head. Aromas of sweet malts and apples. Taste was creamy with some malt flavor. Overall not too flavorful, reminds me of drinking apple juice. This would be a good ale for the summer.

12 oz into pint glass. Crystal clear golden with big white head and visible carbonation (the presence of some lace surprised and pleased me, though it was pretty minimal). Smells like nothing with a very very subtle trace of hops. Tastes like nothing with a hint of nothing. Feels like water on the palate (at least it isn’t overly carbonated!). Overall: I don;t get this style. it is the "ultra light" of all beer styles and leaves no room for flavor as far as I have experienced (though I have only had a few Kolsches). My question is, what is the difference between Kolsch and pale lager. This this is poundable but boring.

Golden yellow, generally opaque body with fluffy foamy three-finger head in a Saranac willibecker--looks refreshing... crisp pilsner malts are stongest... little else, as it should be with the style... active, thin palate that vibrates on the tongue... appealingly fresh... fresh, relaxed clean malts--the lightest feel of vanilla and acidity actually compliment the otherwise thin mouthfeel... as for saranac’s summer sampler, this is the top offering, with its clean, pure approximation of the style--which I thought, again, that the appelation kolsch is not available to non-Cologne brewers... Ryan liked this one too, and I can’t really find an issue with its light pilsner effects...

12 oz. bottle. Golden amber pour with a small head. Aroma of straight malt with a honeylike sweetness. Grainy taste with grassy notes and a green-apple like fruitiess. A little watery and thin.

12 ozer poured into a shaker. Poured a gold color with a huge bubbly head that disappeared quickly. Malty aroma with a sweet malty flavor. A very refreshing summer session type beer. I didn’t find anything particularly outstanding about this beer, but enjoyed drinking it.

Bottle poured into English pint. Had a crisp, citrusy aroma. Poured an amber blonde color with a 1-finger head. Kind of thin palate...not much to speak of. Very thin, light flavor of citrus that then became grassy. Nothing special.
