Pours clear dark brown with a reddish tint. Light to medium body. Caramel and burnt aromas along with vanilla and cherry. Fairly balanced - slightly sweet, a touch of tartness and a somewhat bitter finish.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 PhatB420 (468) - Pittsfield, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 18, 2012
12oz into a pint. Pours a striaght cherry brown with distilled amer highlights. Taste is maltly, old school pipe tobacco, and sweet cherry fermented with black licorice. An easy drinker, and an easy one to forget. the only highlight here is withing the tasteful and trendsy names within the mix pack. Head rises and subsides fast, with dark lingerings of a mild hop infusion, but no. Chocolate shows up now and than, like in the initial bite and the forthcoming aftertaste. That is nice for this par brew.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 SphinxTX (2846) - Mata Gorda, Texas, USA - MAR 8, 2012
Bottle. Pours dark amber/brown with fizzy tan head. Aroma of toasted grain and burnt caramel. Flavor is much the same with a hint of molasses, very subtle sweetness with a dirty mild hop presence with a faint astringent bitterness, earthy. Light-medium body, watery with very high carbonation. Overall, ok.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 redpooba (374) - New York, USA - FEB 20, 2012
It’s a Lager that is smooth yet has those winter brewed calories that make it quite flavorful.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 williamherbert (1124) - Syracuse, New York, USA - FEB 8, 2012
The aroma is sugary sweetness, akin to a winter ale. Touch of cinnamon. Sour berry and a touch of nutmeg.
The appearance is red-orange, decent head. Just an inkling of lace.
The flavor is more sweet, sugary malts, similar to the aroma: cinnamon, sour cherry. Wish it had some kind of hop balance. Very much like an English ale. It does get more palatable as it heats up.
The palate is a little sandpapery, but a little slicker on the outside. Overall, it’s decently drinkable and sweet. A good choice to bring to a party, especially if the host hates hops.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Dacrza (335) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - JAN 28, 2012
Occasion: senses are BACK after a bout with bronchitis....
Glassware: nondescript pilsener...
Appearance: dark orange body with strong effervescenceand a thin, off-white head--nothing out of the ordinary...
Aroma: doughy, bready scents; malts are punchy if not pungeant...
Palate: smooth, slightly bubbly finish with a thicker, warming texture on the tongue...
Taste: full-bodied malts! as the glass drains, a balance approaches comfortability with not too much uniqueness..and I have had a good amount of Saranac...
Overall: a slightly weightier Saranac for the winter--bottle’s scene is snowy and sentimental, but the beer is what it is--serviceable but not outstanding...fair for the price....

Pours a rich copper color, with a malty aroma. This beer offers a nice balance between the hops and malt, with a smooth finish, and a slight bitterness at the tale end.

It’s ok. I’m not a huge fan of real hoppy beer, I do enjoy a little hop som-n, som-n.
