Mildly sweet malts and mild berry flavor. Not bad but a bit thin, similar to most Saranac beers.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with a thin lacing. Sweet berries with a malty backbone and a dull dry finish. Still pretty bland despite the name.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: JUL 8, 2008 Well what can I say? It’s a fruit beer. Pours an amber body with an average sized head and some lacing. Nothing really stands out. Aroma is sweet, somewhat malty and full of berries. Raspberries, blackberries and pretty much whatever other berry you can think of dominates the flavor. It is pretty smooth though, without the tangy sour mouthfeel fruit beers tend to offer, but it’s still the worst of the Saranac’s I’ve tried so far. I guess I just don’t like fruit beers... or anything that can possibly resemble a wine cooler.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a light amber color with a medium white head that diminishes quickly. Very strong berry nose and cherry, smells amazing. Taste is very fizzy and pretty flat but a decent overall flavor. A decent summer beer in my opinion overall.

1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 3/20
Yeast aroma and a little like butt. Amber color, no head. Yeasty berry flavor with alcohol, but not very beery. Not very good either. There’s an average amount of hops on the palate, which is the best thing I can say about this beer. I doubt it’s a freshness issue since I had a fantastic hefeweizen from the same summer mix pack.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Of all the beers in the Summer Sampler 12 pack this is the only one that I would care to have more of. Its fruity, but not to sweet. As good as I could have asked for with a fruit beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours golden with a red tint, small white head. Sweet aroma of berries. Flavor is sweet and fruity, not overwhelming; malty, very little hop flavor present. Smooth finish, crisp and slightly sour. Great for a hot summer day.
